wow, what are the benefits? That is a real sign of ignorance - not stupidity.
Our sons go to a school where they learn Latin and Greek from the first grade on.
The boys already see where Latin has great meaning for learning more complex English/American words. It evens helps me define new words to them by bringing up the Latin or Greek etymology of the word.
I was compelled by the Holy Spirit to start learning Ecclesial Latin about four years ago. It has helped me much in working with the boys. Now my husband is finally learning Latin.
Our sons first learn some of the phonetic Greek characters and then learn to recite 2 John Chapter 2 - word for word.
By high school they should be able to read both the Latin and Greek versions of the bible.
I have heard that if you don’t learn Latin while alive that you must master it before leaving purgatory.
