I will start with your last statement and Pray that the whole world will find God’s blessing.one GODone CHURCH
Code:Catholics complain that there is some anti-Catholicism among Protestants and others. Your sentiment is the main reason for such prejudice. Good Christians, in my view, may come in different colors, nationalities, and denominations. This foolish and prejudiced notion that all non-Catholics are wrong and only Catholics are right gives rise to resentment among many other sincere, devout Christians. Unfortunately, and frankly, the Bible is not always clear on many issues. One example. If Mary is to be revered in the way Catholics revere her (all Christians honor her, by the way), why do those earliest books of the New Testament, the letters of St. Paul, completely omit any reference to her when he deals at length with various doctrines and practices that the early churches should embrace? Or, if Mary was a perpetual virgin why does Matt. 1:25 say "and Joseph *knew her not until* she had brought forth her *firstborn* son"? Some of us simply believe that a diversity of opinion is fine, that God certainly doesn't punish people for their sincere opinions which they base on scripture. The main focus of Christianity should be on love and not dogma. None of us knows very much when it comes to the essential mysteries of the universe, wits its millions of solar systems etc etc. The idea of only one true church may have been acceptable in medieval Europe but we have come a long way from those days. For those who want to accept the authority of the Catholic Church, fine. God bless them. But most Americans don't - and fewer and fewer, as more and more Catholics pick and choose what they can in good conscience believe ('cafeteria Catholics' - most of my RC friends). Democracy has had its effect in religion as well as politics. This is not to criticize the wonderful work the Catholic Church does in helping the poor, building hospitals and universities, and other outstanding achievements. But I believe in the 'big tent' that emphasizes peace and social justice and especially love and mutual respect rather than doctrinal conformity. Christians should work together without an air of superiority. Both Catholics and Protestants who have such an air defy the spirit of Christ who always was ready to deal with outsiders. Consider, as one example, the way he favorably depicted the Samaritans, who had their own religion. God bless the whole world - no exceptions.
As for my what you state is my sentiment. I can not take credit for it. I just agree and echo it.Christ did open the doors for all but he did not make exception for them.
As to your statement about the Samaritans. They Practice the religion of the Israelite their Bible has the Same books and the Old Testament with a verse reading a little differently they claim to be sons of Abraham and religion of the Gods people prior to the Babylonian exile. The Jews reject this.
I did not say anything with the intention to offend. But if you Look At History It shows that the Protestant Groups and those that have sprang from them have keep some of the teaching of the Catholic Church. For that Matter to take it further even in the separation of the Catholic and Orthodox the beliefs are for the most part the same Its just a matter of semantics there. That is why the Catholic and I believe the Orthodox recognize each other Priest and sacraments as valid and licit.
As to finding All that Paul and the other Apostles taught in the New Testament books to do so they would have had to write a lot more and the number of books would in all likelihood have more than doubled. that is why in one if not more place in the new testament it is write hold to all that I have written and taught you or word to that effect. We are told that there are things we need to know that are not written in the letters of Paul and the Other Apostles.
Now are there things that Catholic can lern from our separated brother? Yes, Evangelizing for one. The average Catholic needs including myself when I say this. needs to become so much better at this.
By the way so that you know were I come from and do not think that I am living in a Catholic cocoon. My Mother is a member of the Lutheran Missouri Synod. My Dad is a Deacon in the Southern Baptist. My uncle ( who lives with me) is evangelical non denominational. My dads mother was united brothern. I have 2 Aunts that are Methodist. My mother Mother has been at one time or other every thing from Catholic to Pentecostal to Christian scientist. My step father Is united Church of Christ.
So as you see there is a bit of diversity in my family And in light of all this I stand by my what I wrote. There is only One Church and those Christians communities outside of Her have not the Fullness of Christ truth. that does not make them non Christian nor that they are not part of the one Church. It means they have chosen not to participate in the fullness of it. As for the cafeteria catholic I believe it was the Holy Father Pope Benedict that said the cafeteria is closed.
