What are the Church's views on torture?

Hi,
There’s been a lot about “waterboarding” w/the terrorists lately, and I was wondering: what are the (Catholic) Church’s views on torture?
I just can’t imagine that it could be moral to torture a creation of God… a Temple of the Holy Ghost. Even if the terrorist has commited disgusting things himself, his body is still God’s. Being put to death is a whole other thing. But inflicting torture???
