Most pro-papal Anglicans would have said “Anglo-papalist” as “papist” used to be considered derogatory. But I have heard “Anglo-papist” before meant in the same way by someone using it as a self-descriptor…

My point is that TAC is essentially the closest thing to being Roman Catholic in the western churches that came out of the Reformation. If Rome and TAC can’t find a way to make it work I don’t see it working at all for anyone else. TAC could be a template or it could be the last gasp for the corporate reunification folks.

I understand your point but I think that there is a level of over-simplification. However pro-Roman (and it is rather heartening) the outward sentiments are, the real questions and answers that will be had behind closed doors when & where the rubber meets the road, isn’t necessarily something we will be privy to. Questions arise about:

1. 
   *]Willingness for those in irregular marriage situations to resolve them
   *]Acceptance of rulings on possible needs for re-consecrations
   *]Acceptance of a possible demand for uniform liturgical praxis
   *]Acceptance of a need for greater training for the presbyterate. One former TAC clergyman I know was ordained after submitting to a review board. His training was wholly in a Lutheran seminary and he read his way into Catholic theology… Would that be sufficient?
   
   If any of these or other elements cause a snag, that would demonstrate impediments that one group may be unwilling to budge on unilaterally. It would not necessarily indicate Rome was unwilling or that it would be hopeless for other groups.
   
   Now to the credit of the TAC, their leadership and clergy who are married ex-Catholics (including the archbishop) have said they are willing to step down and return to a lay state. Additionally - and I give them A LOT of credit for this one - they have resolved to make no public statement while awaiting response from Rome. So none of us have the whole story on this matter.
   
   I have been praying for success in these efforts since I heard about them. I urge everyone else to do the same. We just do well to not think that all possible similar efforts in the future are necessarily riding on this endeavor.
