What are the main differences of Protestants and Catholics

we have a large blended family. with in our family are people that are Anglican, Lutheran and Pentecostal. can you please tell me what are the differences of our religions? and why do they mistrust or do not like Catholics? I would like to see where I stand when I talk about faith.
