What are the most really convincing arguments to "why is the Christian God the REAL, TRUE God"?

Well, I think that one requirement would be a timeless, uncreated God, otherwise you run into the problem of inifinite regression. I am also curious about miracles attributed to other faith, especially if there are any that underwent as much scrutiny or had as many supposed witnesses than Our Lady of Guadalupe and Our Lady of Fatima, respectively.

Other faiths don’t necessarily include miracles. Of the ones that do they don’t all seem to use the word “miracle” in the same way (ex: the miracle of the Koran). There have been faiths in which the gods themselves are not timeless but eminate from some other eternal substance.

I’ve seen several arguments for the existence x non existence of a God, and after weighing them, I’m convinced there is a God, or that there are Gods. I think being convinced that there IS a God is the easy part (I don’t want to focus on this part in this thread, because there are sevral threads on this topic). But, there are very few really good convincing aruments that explain why, from all the thousands of human-created (? or not!) deities, the one true God is the Christian God. Just because the cult survived up to date isn’t good enough. Nor it is the martyrdom of the Apostles. The same arguments could all be used to defend the Muslim faith, for example.

Why is not the Muslim God The One? Or perhaps, Brahma? Taoist deities? Wicca/Pagan Gods? Zoroastrian Gods? Sumerian/Babylonian deities? All of them seem eligible. Most of them are even much older than the Judeo-Christian faith, even if their belief in them is extinct. Sumerian / Babylonian deities would make a lot of sense, since they created the humans to work for them, and they found the humans to be a lot of trouble and abandoned them on their own (explains why their cult “died” to date).

It has to do with recognizing the voice and face of your creator, a familiar (as in familyar recogntion. The Christian faith simply reeks with His presence, His expression, His revelation. Other religions may possess certain truths regarding Him, but none hits the mark so fully or exactly as the Christian faith.

Jesus is very busy now and can not be here to encourage the troops. We must step up and take a hit for the team for a couple thousand years plus until his father is satisfyed by all the suffering there is no limit to. His father needs a lot of suffering in his plan, and there seems to be no end to the need he has for it. But, don’t worry. All this suffering is going to be a part of this plan he will make good. Might take a few more centuries, but it is needed.

There’s only one God. There’s not a “Christian” God and a bunch of other gods. There’s just the One.

The issue is actually what can we know about God, what are the most reliable sources, besides the Source Himself, for information about God? I personally think if God is going to come and talk to us Himself, then it makes sense that this is the most reliable source.

Although I would personally agree with your statement however I think that Hinduists, Buddists, Taoist or Confuncianists would disagree with it we can continue the discussion from there on.

First, there have been countless martyrs for Christianity, especially in the early Church. If Christianity was a lie, surely one of the Christians in the Early Church would’ve confessed under torture, and you’d think that they wouldn’t be smiling while the torture was happening also. Second, considering how dejected the 11 were after the Crucifixion, it would’ve been psychologically impossible for them to become overjoyed even under persecution for believing in a lie. Another thing to consider is Jesus Christ himself: he either wasn’t real (historical documents back up that he is real, so that argument dies), was a lunatic (his intelligence was too high to be nuts, and he gathered quite a following), a good man but not God (yet he claimed to be God and lied to everyone if he wasn’t; hardly a good man), a great liar (considering his high moral standards that he taught that isn’t possible), or God. I pick God. Catholicism is also rational, picking up with philosophy from Aristotle, purified by St. Thomas Aquinas. The love Christians have exhibited over the ages for the dejected and poor also goes to show how they have the love of God in them. If God is real, God would want the whole world to know about him and wants the world to love him. Christianity is doing a good job in spreading that word, without force. Granted sometimes this hasn’t been followed, but Christ had a bad disciple named Judas Iscariot as well. Christianity offers answers to questions about human nature, such as why we are sinful, and why everyone wonders about God if there is no God. Why are humans religious by nature and wonder about the supernatural? But most importantly, we know Christianity is true by the love God has for us. It may seem like a pathetic reason to the unbeliever, but the Cross of Christ shows God’s love for us and shows how the Christian God is the true God. Only a God of Love would lay down his life so that we might be with him, even after we turn our backs against him through sin day after day. It is only through the Cross of Christ that we can be saved from ourselves, from our sinfulness that is evident throughout this world of poverty and violence. How do I know my God is the one and only God? The Cross.

Which* god* offers us all without exception more love and hope than all the others? Which of all the* gods* practiced on earth what he preached from heaven? If you can name another god who is superior by these human standards, go and worship him. But first please tell us which god that would be.

The most compelling evidence is the witness of the various saints and especially those who encountered Jesus or Mary. A close second is the many great miracle workers, many of whose works were witnessed by many people.

IF there were only one or two or a few such persons, one might argue that they were charlatans trying to fool folks into believing them or doing so for some self serving reason.

BUT there are many saints who received these revelations or who performed great miracles and all were were very holy people with no agenda for fame or fortune. One of the greatest, St Padre PIo passed away in the 1960, a little more than 50 years ago.

ALL of the great saints and miracle workers proclaim the gospel as true and proclaim the Church as that established by Jesus Christ. There are dozens of great saints and miracle workers in the Catholic Church, no other faith can even name a handful, most can not even name one.

Fulton Sheen, in the Life of Christ, in the first chapter mentions why.

Of all religions, the saviour is announced centuries before he is to come so he would be recognized. And it describes him, his life, his orgins, in some detail and in some unusual things about him.

His death in ps. 21, his mother, a virgin in Isiah, the town of Bethlehem, his garments being cast lots for, the house of David his ancestry, and so on. There is a big list of them in the Old testament.

None of the other religions have this preannouncement. And this is necessary to know who it is we should look for. Because it is too easy for someone to just say “here I am”, or an angel sent me, or write a book, and so on. This pre-announcement weeds out everyone but Jesus Christ.

Fulton goes on to mention some famous historical people who also indicate that they were waiting for someone special to come. Among the Romans, Tacitus and Suetonius. China believed that a great wise man would be born in the west. He cites Aeschylus the Greek, as well as Cicero and Virgil. Plato and Socrates spoke of a wise man to come. And a few more. These were gentile peoples expecting some great wise man to come into the world.
