What are the Old Testament roots of Confirmation?

uhh… bar mitzvahs? it’s a coming of age ritual… That’s as close as I can figure off the top of my head.
 
there is no bar mitvah in the OT and Confirmation is NOT a coming of age ritual

the roots of confirmation are the anointings of priests and kings, as Confirmation completes are baptism and the anointing confirms that these two sacraments of initiation join us to the priesthood and kingship of Jesus Christ. The various “anointings” of the prophets by the Holy Spirit to proclaim the word of God are also part of this, such as Isaiah ch. 11, for instance.

Circumsission is the closest and incompasses BOTH Sacraments used today; Baptism and Confirmation.

Wouldn’t it be the anointing of kings? “But ye are a chosen generation, a kingly [or *royal] priesthood, an holy nation…” (1 Pet 2:9) It’s clear the anointing is a type of confirmation, performed in the same fashion, although I think this is more clear in the Chrismation of the East.
