What are the reasons I should (or shouldn't) become Catholic?

The author of the op has already stated he’s staying in the RCC.

No doubt he could smell the sulphur in sola scriptura.

Well then by your logic your prayers to Christ avail not since He is not nailed to any cross near you, is He? Your faith falls by the same argument. Anything you say to Christ is worthless since you seem to require a literal recreation of an event for it to mean anything at all.

Roman Catholic priests, by apostolic succession, enjoy the gift Christ granted to Peter and His one true church. But they also help misguided souls to understand the NT, not make up wild claims about it to attack other faiths.
so does apostollic succession give the church the approval to do whatever it wishes to their own benefit?? Sure looks like it to me. I experienced it there for decades. Are sins only forgiven through a Catholic priest and never by praying to God himself?? Seems quite anti-Scriptural to me.

Why is it that all you people who claim the indwelling the Holy Spirit have him giving you different versions of the truth?
Same reason Paul speaks of all “Body” parts being of the same importance in Corinthians.

Interesting…it was the Catholic Church that defined the Holy Spirit and gave Him the place alongside the Son and the Father but a poster above decides that we Catholics don’t even know who He is or where He dwells. And I thought I was arrogant!

But you don’t know anything about the RCC, so why should I be surprised at your silly questions?

Sola scriptura is not in the Bible and runs counter to it.

So Paul beleived there thousnads of different versions of the truth? Can you give us what verse or verses he says that in?
different versions of truth?
All true Christians believe the one way to heaven is faith in Christ.
Now even in Johns day there were different practicing churches one need not look beyond Revelation and letters to the seven churches, all with distinctly different systems…We born agains are of the Philledelphia type!😃

So there is nothing whatsoever incomatible between you and a jehova’s witness since you both beleive in Christ? As I recal even the demons invoked his name…

There was only one Church in Johns days. In fact there is only one Church today

You apparently don’t know there theology, if you think
A.) that they are Christian
B.) Think they believe the way to heaven is by faith in Christ

Believing in Christ and faith unto salvation are 2 different things even satan believes in Christ

Faith
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Heb. 11:1). It is synonymous with trust.

What about the grave sins that the man who was hanging on the cross next to Jesus comitted?? Scripture called him a thief, but if you look at the translation, thief meant worst of the worst in those days. Jesus didn’t tell him to go to confession first and then I’ll think about it. I think the whole Catholic idea of faith and works doesn’t hold water.
And, what would have happened to him, if he had not made that last act of faith to Christ?

What about the other thief?

This, I belief pokes holes into idea of OSAS, therefore, IT doesn’t hold water.

Well, don’t you suppose that seeing that Our Lord had just fed thousands with a few loaves and fishes, that He was perfectly capable of miraculously carrying out whatever He said?

He was and still is yes, I am with you so far
Church Militant;2616115:
Tie that in with the many last supper passages MfM, Jesus hands the unleavened bread and cup of wine to them and literally says to them, " Take ye, and eat. This is my body…Drink ye all of this. 28 For this is my blood of the new testament
" (Matthew 26:26-28)
Do this in remembrance of me… were some more of his words at the last supper! And so it makes more sense that he wasn’t literal!
I hope you can see how shallow the interpretation is that precipitates the way you have expressed your question is.
If it’s so shallow how come ya’ll still can’t say short and sweet why if HE was literal those who understood Him and stayed didn’t take a bite out and get eternal life…
I can find no logical or scriptural way to reach the kind of thinking that you have expressed there my friend. It is the rationale of the teachings of men as opposed to the New Testament and the teachings of the early church.
Quite contrary my friend it is simple thinking confounding the wise!
Does that help? 🙂
Not a bit, No offense my friend.

Randy or Jane or John or Mike any of you guys want to weigh in on this?

Regarding JOHN 6
addressing those who stayed! I am standing there, someone is preaching like i’ve never heard says my “flesh” if you eat it you have eternal life, I believe he is speaking literal…**WHAT WOULD BE THE NATURAL NEXT STEP?**A lil hunk of His flesh? YES!
Let’s be serious people have been trying for centuries to figure out eternal life either in or out of the flesh, someone says it, you believe it, and your not gonna bumrush him???

Nothing natural about it, everything unnatural: you are now assuming that Christ and the apostles were dummies. You superimpose on a Bible translation in English cooked up by Protestants whatever you please: but ignorance and silliness are no approaches to the Bible. Christ upbraids nobrainers speaking beyond what they are competent to speak of. You need to read Greek and Roman philosophy, as Paul did: know thyself.
