That seems likely because his responses don’t respond. He may simply be reading, without response.

Good - that’s a good start. And yet you refer to this God as a “He”. Its natural for us to refer to any intelligent being as if that being has human qualities. God is no exception. Anyway I agree with what you said.
Can you think of a better reason to believe something, than that it is true?^ That quote is kinda childish.![]()
I think the request of reason for belief expected more than “because it’s true”. Catholics can do that, Mormons can do that, Scientologists can do that. A kid denying that his hand was in the cookie jar can do it. Anyone can do that. Many children do. Fairly childish. Can you think of a better reason to believe something, than that it is true?![]()
Exactly. But the question was “why should/shouldln’t I . . .” The question more or less supposes that there are secondary “selling points”: You will make friends. You will get good Bible studies.I think the request of reason for belief expected more than “because it’s true”. Catholics can do that, Mormons can do that, Scientologists can do that. A kid denying that his hand was in the cookie jar can do it. Anyone can do that. Many children do. Fairly childish.
How do we know that it is true? That is the question.
all reasons do amount to the single reason that one is true. what i find childish is the exaggeration. ten thousand, yeah right. another would simply hit back with a greater exaggeration. and what you get is a child fight. Can you think of a better reason to believe something, than that it is true?![]()
I believe anyone who describes GK Chesterton as childish has lost what little credibility they had to begin with. The idea that we are take some anonymous poster with a handle of AgnosTheist more seriously than we would GK Chesterton is specious. Chesterton has a huge volume of work we can examine. You have 90 some posts, very very few of which actually say anything other than you are right and we are wrong.all reasons do amount to the single reason that one is true. what i find childish is the exaggeration. ten thousand, yeah right. another would simply hit back with a greater exaggeration. and what you get is a child fight.
I did not label that author as entirely childish. Just that one passage. Even the wisest & most educated can & do say something foolish sometimes. Nobodys perfect.I believe anyone who describes GK Chesterton as childish has lost what little credibility they had to begin with.
Trust me: that quotation from Chesterton is not childish. Perhaps it appears to be so when taken out of context. But Chesterton is widely known, and his very name is “context” in the same way the name “Shakespeare” or “Mill” or “Lewis” would be self-descriptive context in a discussion such as this one.I did not label that author as entirely childish. Just that one passage. Even the wisest & most educated can & do say something foolish sometimes. Nobodys perfect.
GK Chesterton’s comment is a classic and has quoted in an again over the years. This is the first time I’ve heard described as childish. As with yearly all your other post you give us nothing to substantiate your opinion other than that’s the way you think. What possible reason should we have take your word over GK Chesterton’s?I did not label that author as entirely childish. Just that one passage. Why should I?Trust me
if only someone could show the context.that quotation from Chesterton is not childish. Perhaps it appears to be so when taken out of context.
God was in the beginning of the same image as Man,Chesterton’s statement is not more childish than the shopworn assertion that the Hebrews made their God in the image of man.
And with that I bid you a fond farewell… I gave you the benefit of the doubt when you came here but you have added had absolutely nothing nothing to this discussion other than to make pompous assertions that you know best. Why should I?
if only someone could show the context.
God was in the beginning of the same image as Man,
God feels like a Man (anger, love, jealousy, etc)
God thinks like a Man (you killed my friends, i’ll kill each and everyone of you)
And later God even looked like a man (Jesus)
Theres no proof that the bible God exists, but theres more than enough proof that Man exists. So who really made whom?
Who made the silly assertion now? Me or the ancient hebrews?

Has the term “natural law” been mentioned on this thread? You sound like you are parroting the reductionist, relativist, deconstructionis world view now in vogue in public education.God was in the beginning of the same image as Man,

Aww, Bob. Cut him a little slack. My guess is that he’s about 17 years old – no more than a college sophomore. He’s just flexing his vocabulary. And with that I bid you a fond farewell… I gave you the benefit of the doubt when you came here but you have added had absolutely nothing nothing to this discussion other than to make pompous assertions that you know best.
Its funny how you guys keep invoking his name as justification for his statement instead of defending the statement itself.GK Chesterton’s comment is a classic and has quoted in an again over the years. This is the first time I’ve heard described as childish.
If you want substantiation then just ask me for it. But please be specific. As with yearly all your other post you give us nothing to substantiate your opinion other than that’s the way you think. What possible reason should we have take your word over GK Chesterton’s?
I never declared you guys as wrong. There is a slim chance that you are right. The reasons why they its slim were all listed pages ago. If you want more detail then just ask for them. Can you give us a reason, any reason ,as to why you are right and we are wrong.
Did I really say that I am wise? I dont remember. Thus far you have provided absolutely nothing but two and three line hit-and-run posts which say absolutely nothing other than you are wise and we are not.
Chesterton’s books are at the library. They are required reading for many high school and university courses, so it’s difficult to believe that you haven’t read them, or at least heard the name before. Its funny how you guys keep invoking his name as justification for his statement instead of defending the statement itself.
What would a brown skinned asian filipino guy like me know about that guy? We are required to read the works of Jose Rizal, not some Chesterton dude.Chesterton’s books are at the library. Sorry, Agnos. You can plead ignorance because of your educational limitations, but we ain’t cuttin’ you no slack on account of being “brown” or “Asian.”What would a brown skinned asian filipino guy like me know about that guy? I know, white catholics are diminishing fast and being replaced by asians, blacks & latinos. People from the 3rd world countries with ‘limited education’, where religion can still have a lot of meaning in life.A lot of the coolest people in the Catholic Church these days are both.
I find that amazing. If each gospel was a mirror image of the others, then the New Testament would be dismissed as a fraud and the Gospels collusion. The fact there is that good old human element known as ‘interpretation’ or ‘personal experience’ of what an event meant to one person which differs to another, proves for me its authenticity. The problem is the New Testament itself. There is no way to know for certain how faithful it was to the original, if there was indeed an original authorship. Rather there are a number of contradictions & inconsistencies that puts to question its credibilitiy.
