What are the sins that are unforgivable, even with repentance?

=123Strontium;10517190]If upon repentance, all sins are forgivable, what’s the point of being good ? I personally think that I’d rather play it safe in life by living morally, I know what displeases God from scripture so I’d rather not go counter to this **if I can help it. **
I feel morally obligated to encourage others to do what is right, even though they know that sins can be forgiven. Because how do we really know?, when you read scripture, God’s character has two sides, anger and mercy? But i appreciate that God is merciful. However, you get most of this merciful stuff from the epistles of St Paul. The Gospels Jesus speaks of obeying the Law. St Paul seems to contradict Jesus ?
Jesus says we do need to obey the law. St Paul says we don’t need to obey the Law, …
I imagine the protestants would be saying that I am rejecting grace but I don’t feel that I am, since in catholicism, sacramental grace bestows us with the power to overcome sin and temptation. I would encourage playing it safe.
Your missing some critical understanding.

There is ONLY one unforgable sin and that is denial of God Himself.

Even this can be rectified while one still lives.

It is God’s desie that everyone be saved; BUT UP TO man to see that it happenes.

Repretance is JUST the first essential step. Forgiveness and Conversion MUST follow it.

You’re getting your teaching from CARM now? Try going on their forums and defending Catholic teaching on the Eucharist, the Papacy etc and see how far you get. CARM is pathologically, frothing-at-the-mouth anti-Catholic.

Then go read the sections of the Cattchism of the Catholic Church pertaining to sin, salvation and Confession.

And tell me why the Good Thief was forgiven - and promised a place in Heaven - the instant he sought forgiveness - despite his heinous sins? And St Peter? and St Paul?

When according to you what Peter and Paul did was unforgiveable - at least as bad if not far worse than Joseph Fritzl and his like - being denials and persecution of Christ rather than harms done to mere men?

Why would a Joseph Fritzl not be perfectible if he repented? Going from being an unrepentant and active sexual criminal to being a repentant and former one is a huge step towards being perfect. Some of our greatest saints were heinous sinners - in JF’s league or worse - who did repent and lead better lives.
There’s no need for such an aggressive tone,

You shouldn’t read anything into my references to scripture from Carm, the references are relevant to catholics because it’s scripture. I do a lot of protestant research to contextualize my catholic faith. I had to name the source, because it was the right thing to do, credit where’s it due etc. The reference was just to name relevant parts of scripture which is common in all Christian denominations, however there are some slight variations, but in this context the variations are negligible.

However, in Catholicism, the theology is that there is lost salvation by sin. If you watch that video link Father Pachwa, he says it’s an interior conversion or an inner transformation of a Catholic towards a perfection in order to be justified.

Your arguments are homespun and personal interpretations which is a very protestant characteristic, we’re supposed to believe in Catholic theology interpreted for us by the Doctors of the Church.

Regarding Joseph Fritzl, we don’t really know if somebody like that would be forgiven, do we? You’re just writing all this stuff to win an argument which we have no idea if God will forgive.

I learnt about the inner transformation thing already, thanks.

Which of our saints committed heinous crimes? I’d like to know this one.

I know St Aug did sexual immorality before his conversion, but that’s not the same as Fritzl’s incest and imprisonment of his daughter, causing suffering etc.

What about a person who feels they are so unworthy of God’s grace and of being saved they cannot ask for God’s forgiveness but are truly sorry of the sins they have committed. Is that an unforgivable act?

Matthew 12: 31 says : Blasphemy against the HS will not be forgiven.

Possibly suicide? Is suicide forgivable?

The “jury” [theologians] are still debating this.

Murder is usually a Mortal sin; BUT the issue hre is TRUE “freewill.”

If their were external pressures [real or imagined] it MAY NOT be a Mortal sin. Therefore God alone can make judgment knowing ALL of the issues and facts.

God Bless,
