Good evening,

I´m trying to decide what I´ll be doing for Lent soon, but I struggle to decide.
So please, if you´d like to, share your intentions for Lent down below and I´ll see if I can figure out what I´ll do for Lent.

Yours in Christ,

I’m getting into gear now, beginning to ease into some new habits and doing withouts…I have a good feeling that will really help with persevering through Lent .

I’m giving up mindless scrolling in my smart devices. I always have a phone or something in my hand, so it will be challenging but it is also very much needed.

In place of the scrolling I’m going to try to pick up my habit of saying the rosary daily because I have slacked off lately. I will also be doing a daily devotional.

I’m just going to try to hang on to dear life. Last year my mother was dying from pancreatic cancer during Lent. She passed away shortly after Easter.

I feel like I have enough on my plate without having to do anything extra this year.

Well for my part, its probably not going to have a lot to do with food, since I’m a vegetarian, leaning almost vegan, non-coffee drinking, teetotaller already. I’m trying to edge back into spiritual practices after a bit of a break. Back to Sunday Mass starting tommorow, two weekday Masses a week plus adoration and some prayers every night. That’s the plan.

Giving up: Facebook. Maybe drinks that aren’t water.
Taking up: still undecided on if I will try to do parts of the Liturgy of the Hours or if I’m not ready and maybe will choose some other method of praying with the psalms.
Working on cultivating silence for prayer with the kids. Starting with a small amount of time and working up. Possible working on establishing more deliberate prayer spaces in the home.

I hear you. My father died three two weeks ago, so I’m already dragging a heavier-than-usual burden into Lent this year. The plans I had for Lent have all gone out the window and what I actually do will probably be far less demanding than in past years. God is merciful and understands.

Praying for you. :pray:t3: God bless.

I’m cutting way back on internet use, especially forums. It seems even when trying to be positive there’s often some smart alecky response. People who would never give the time of day with any positive response are quick to tear down and bait into arguing. I know it’s to be expected on the internet but it’s soul killing. Plus there is the mutual admiration society and in group/out group dynamic which leads to herd mentality where a bunch of people pile on with bullying tactics. The time I save will be spent on strengthening my faith in peace and quiet away from all the distractions.

I’m giving up cussing. Believe me, it’s hard to let go something I’m naturally gifted at, but I’ve already started practicing with some success. At least my family finds my pseudo-risqué “Mormon-style” curse words amusing. (“Shucks!” “Phooey!” “Drat!” “Dag nabbit!” “Fart muffin!”)
One of the things I am doing is not telling others what I am doing.
I greatly admire this and considered doing the same. My only problem is that at least to other Catholics and those who know me, my Lenten sacrifice is going to be obvious once I stub my toe. “Ah shiiiiieeeee-oooooooooooooot!”

I have plans, but each year I have my Lenten plans derailed by a series of unfortunate events, so I am not sure why I bother to plan at all!

I am trying to prayer for others more and to read more from the Bible.

No fair, you guys are hours ahead of us! ☺️

Happy birthday, @Greenfields! 🍰🍰

Thank you both,I’ll save some cake for you :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
