Well, lo and behold, my husband never ceases to amaze me. He picked me up from the train station after work (I always get home about 1-2 hrs after him…lucky him, being a teacher) and we had about 45 minutes to eat and get ready for birthing class. When I walked into our apartment, the table was set with candles burning. I had put a roast in the crockpot earlier that day so we could just eat and run, but he took care of that and made veggies and pasta to go with it (we RARELY have a full meal because of time). I went into the bedroom and on our bed was a bouquet of red tulips and little construction paper hearts all over the bed with writing on them. He had cut out a bunch of hearts and wrote something he loved about me on each one…there was even one “from” the baby! 
Tulips are special to me for two reasons: 1) my dad used to cut fresh tulips from his mom’s garden and give them to my mom while they were dating and 2) all the guys I dated before DH never once asked me what my favorite flower was…they just assumed I liked roses, carnations, etc. - typical flowers to give a sweetheart, but I never once received tulips. When I first began dating DH, he asked me what my favorite flower was and I knew he really cared about me if he asked me that. It made me feel special
. So, he always gives me tulips when he can…I still get the occassional rose (which I love roses too!) and once he sent me irises (my second fav. flower), but tulips are for special times. In fact, the day of our wedding, he went searching for tulips to give me before the ceremony, but he couldn’t find any since it was the middle of July and so he went and bought a bouquet of fake tulips and had them delivered to me via a groomsman. It was so sweet!
