Olive… Very interesting…especially the opps! I missed and hit the ceiling. I have spots on the white ceiling that I am now trying to camoflage. And the outside…Blue. Lovely shade, gray trim and red for the door. Everything dries at different rates…Ick! I am running around trying to remember where I stopped last on the outside. Too hot this week for outdoor painting so the bathroom is my victim of choice.

Yeah, I’m reading Mountains Beyond Mountains by Kidder, about a doctor who establishes clinics all over the world. Great book.

Next two in the queue are the 6th Harry Potter book and a book about forensic investigation after a murder (can’t remember the title). Then hopefully I’ll also get a new shop manual for my new car!

Oooh, I read Jane Eyre last year for summer reading. I abhored it. So pointless! I suppose it’s too much of a chick book for me, though. It’s just so long, and seemingly random with it’s story. It did teach me a useful lesson in humility though, .

i like jane eyre. wuthering heights–now that was terrible! it’s the first book i felt like throwing against a wall.

Hi,
I just finished reading “The Virginian.” It was school assigned but I will totally read it again later. The stoic, silent, gentlemanly nature of the Virginian, a cowboy, sort of seems like the way Catholic men should act. His character is almost like that of Captain Blood (a pirate, buccaneer, and gentleman) in “Captain Blood.” Don’t let the name fool you, it is an excellent book, as well. And both books have moral themes to them. Ya can’t beat that! So, like I said . . . Great books!

I have just got The Ice Master by Jennifer Niven out of the library. It is the true story of a disastrous exploration in the Arctic in 1913.
There was a nearly simultaneous occurence in the Antarctic, with the Shackleton party, which grabbed the attention away from this one, but I am fascinated by this one. For one thing, an Inuit woman who was there with her parents who were guide & cook for the party, was still alive to tell her memories to the author. She also has journals kept both by those who survived, & those who perished.
After that, I am ready for something light & frothy…
