I give thanks to God daily for one thing or another but I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving.

As a Brit I never fully understood Thanksgiving Day in the US.
Aren’t you celebrating the arrival of a group of Protestants which led to colonisation and to the genocide of native Americans?
Why is that something to celebrate?
Don’t recall 🙂 where those Pilgrims came from, but they arrived quite some time before the time we became a country. Bet we could find things to be sarcastic about other coutries as well.

On a lighter note, I am thankful that the Holy Spirit moved my heart and helped return me to the church of my birth. I am happy to be a citizen of the greatest country on earth; I am thankful for my family, especially for my DH who is celebrating five years of sobriety. He is now the wonderful man I married.

4- better relationship with my family members
5- a brand new life.
6- not falling asleep during Sunday’s Mass
6- falling in love with the Rosary and Bible (and still working on it)
7- seeing whole bunch of my old sins
8- great parish at St. Williams church in Round Rock, TX
9- intercession of St. Faustina, St. Jude, St. Rita, Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcuta, and St. Teresa Little Flower.
10- having priests to celebrate daily mass
11 - Mother Mary’s Love - I believe 10 Hail Mary’s per day for the past year was one of the important reasons that I am having my new meaningful life.
12- The amazing works of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit

etc…

Thanks be to God!

Whilst that is the current re-writing of history to make things Politically Correct…ummm…no. The joy of having grown enough food to get through the winter, yes.

So what part of the word “Thanksgiving” do you have a problem understanding:confused:

You may read a bit of history about the holiday:

it helps you answer your question.

Hey all, I gave a moan earlierabout colonisers, and it seems to have carried on. I don’t think that this is anywhere neer the question asked.
So i apologise for moaning, please forgive me!

I relate to all the points you have mentioned in giving thanks.
Especially, I thank our Presious Lord, Our father in Heaven and the Holy Spirit for chosing me to have my name writen in the book of life.

I am thankful for lots of things including living, family, & God.

I am thankful for the little things.

Do not forget the everyday things. Give God thanks for it all. See Thanking God for Everyday Things.

:gopray2: Thank You, God, for All that you do for us. :gopray2:
