I’m thankful for so much, so much that it would take several pages to list. However, I am thankful for a particular news which I received today, something I had prayed for for years and have inquired about for at least four years. A couple years ago I had inquired about a letter I had sent a couple years before when I first expressed by interest, but the office told me that they had no such letter. I searched my records and discovered that I had it on record in an email that I had sent and sent it again to the office. Mistakes can be made, and have no ill will, and will have caused any formation to have been out off a few years ( I’m 53, but still eligible)but I’m grateful that i had inquired about it again,
Today I received in the mail a packer from my archdiocese from the Office of the Permanent Diaconate. It’s only an First Inquiry Form along with documents explaining the Diaconate, particularly an address given to a general audience by St. John Paul II on Oct. 20, 1993.
The form is a simple two-page form which i have to fill out and mail if I’m still interested, and if I don’t mail it, then I will be removed from the mailing list. Letter further states that I will be contacted through US mail to provide me with additional information and instructions.
I know and understand that this is the very beginning stage of the process and discernment, but I am thrilled to have received the letter and form and to be able to start the process. I truly believe that I am called to be a Deacon, but I still cannot help but feel unworthy. Any advice from members would be appreciated as I will complete and mail the form within a few days. Thanks
