What are your favorite books/verses?

Of the Old Testament, I like Sirach, Proverbs, and Psalms. I’ll just be honest and say it: Genesis was tolerable, Exodus was struggling, but Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy almost numbed me with boredom. I’m sorry and hope I did not offend anyone, but I really fought a pitched battle to get through those. I wonder if there is a better way to read them than just straight through.

Anyway, I prefer the New Testament and my favourite are Luke, Acts (Luke was just a superb writer) and I like James, 1 John, 2 John, 1 Peter, and 2 Peter.

The Beatitudes:

When he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. He began to teach them, saying:

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
