What are your or your children’s favorite childrens books? They can be for any age. I’ve always loved the Little Critter books. I think Veggie Tales are great, and I like some Shell Silverstein. I’ve been on the lookout for good books at garage sales and library sales to build my future childrens’ collections.

Tops and Bottoms

Mouse Paint

Mouse Count

Make Way for Ducklings

Inside a Barn in the Country

Ping

aah . . . brings back memories! —KCT

Laura Ingalls series

Box Car Children series

There are too many to mention here. I love children’s books.

Children’s books are so great. The classics are at least. Whenever I go into a book store I can’t resist at least looking in the kids’ section. Sometimes I’ll buy a couple to save for when I have kids.

I loved the Babysitter’s Club series

Goodnight Moon

The Tenth Best Thing about Barney (our vet gave this to us when I was little and our dog died)

Number the Stars (the story about a girl’s family hiding her Jewish friend with them)

The Giver

Where the Wild Things are

And I still love to say that I am having a Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day (just like Alexander). 😃

Septimus Bean and His Amazing Machine

Bagdad Ate It

Rabbit’s New Rug

Rainbow Gobblins

All the Jan Brett books

Miss Fannie’s Hat

The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Twomey

Amelia Bedilia

Morris and Borris (LOL)

Winnie the Pooh

Ramona Quimby

The Max Lucado kids books

All the Golden books!

And many more…

Loved that one, also Hesprus and Babbar. I know it probably isn’t Kosher, but I liked the little black Sambo where the tigers became butter running around the tree.

Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse

Where the Wild Things Are - (a current favorite for my 3 year old!)

We have a collection of Bible stories and Jonah and the Whale is always a favorite.

The Kissing Hand

The Library

If You Give a Mouse A Cookie

Well, I could go on and on - we have an extensive library at home and reading is a must every night before bed. I LOVE BOOKS!!!

Sneetches and Other Stories

Love You Forever

All of Lewis Narnia

Little Women

Tom Sayer/Huck Finn (showing my age here…)

For story books (not novels) for children, Max Lucado is an amazing Christian author. He writes beautiful books.

I remember the first book I ever read all by myself, the Golden Egg Book which I received for Easter when I was 4 years old.

Favorite chapter books:
Little House series
Anne of Green Gables series
Madeline L’Engle
Rumer Godden, especially her books about dolls and doll houses
Noel Streatfield “Shoes” books, Ballet Shoes will always be my favorite

Favorite all time book - Little Women

Darn good choices. I have already introduced my 5 mo. old to “Goodnight Moon”, “The Very Hungry Catepiller” (he also has a stuffed one as his favorite night-night toy) and “One Fish, Two Fish”.

My all time favorite I have looked for for months and can not find, “Pat the Bunny!”

If you find this treasure, grab it.

All of Kevin Henke’s books–“Owen”, “Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse”, “Julius, the Baby of the World”, “Chester’s Way”, “Chrysanthemum”

Ezra Jack Keats–“Goggles!”, “A Snowy Day”, “Whistle for Willie”, and (I think it was called) “Peter’s Chair”. I loved the art work, it always seemed so calming!

Russell Hoban’s books, featuring Frances–“Bread and Jam for Frances”, “A Bargain for Frances”, etc. Garth Williams’ illustrations really make them special!

Of course all the Little House books, “The Great Brain” series by John D. Fitzgerald, E. B. White’s books, “Beautiful Joe” by Marshall Saunders, “The Hundred Dresses” by Eleanor Estes.

Now my son is older (11), so he’s reading The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Redwall series (by Brian Jacques), and just for fun, he still reads the Hardy Boys, Hank the Cowdog, and I’m introducing him to the series I loved as a kid, The Three Investigators (the original series, not the new one!)

And of course, Mary Fabyan Windeatt’s series of saints’ stories!
