Sincere question; you already know most of the people on this section will not approve of Life Teen. A bunch of people here prefer to not even attend the Ordinary Form period.

The Life Teen Mass in my parish is not led by a band, and most of the attendees are adults because of it’s time–5PM Sunday evening. The Mass is open to the parish. The readings are the same, but the youth do them. The Lifeteen members sit in the pews with their parents or each other–they do not gather around the altar or all sit together, and the homily is the same one given at other Masses. The music is contemporary for the most part, and the youth take up the collection.Life Teen Masses are youth oriented and are led by a band
I think it is fine, it is not weird, and I have attended a number of them because I often have to work weekends. I’m not always fond of the music, but it is not done by a band, they don’t even have a guitar.

Well I do like the Life Teen Mass. I’m 17 years old…not from the pre-Vatican II era. I attend the Novus Ordo Mass every day during the summer time, and SSPX once a month. I like both forms of the Mass.

I think it’s great for teens that need to be spiritually fed that way. I know most of the folks in the TC section do not care for it, but I’d rather have Catholic teens attending a Lifeteen Mass than ending up at the hip and happening nondenominational church down the road that draws in a lot of teens because of their programs.Life Teen Masses are youth oriented and are led by a band

Anyway, nine years.
Every Sunday, seven hours. Each Sunday. For nine years (minus one three month break).
I’ve been involved in a Life Teen program for nine years as a volunteer. There’s no more important ministry than high school kids. They are the future of the Church, the future of the world. They aren’t getting formation at school, and half of the kids are missing parents through death or divorce. As a thirty year old man who is married with a toddler, the kids see me as a paternal figure. They see me as a father, sometimes more-so than their own.
I teach kids about the faith, including converts. Several of the kids of gone on mission trips, some have joined the seminary, some have gotten married and are having boatloads of kids. Some are picking noble professions like becoming family doctors. They’re joining the KFC, they are attending daily Mass, they aren’t using birth control. NFP is being discussed fluently by alumnus.
Contemporary music does happen, and is happening by talented musicians and probably the best music group in the city. As far as instrumentalists go, I’m the least trained person there and I’ve been playing percussion since 1998, so I’m “pretty fair”. The singers are good, the congregation knows the songs and sings them.
The priests have a large say in things. I encourage you to look up the Companions of the Cross, they are a Society of Apostolic Life. They do outstanding work, and I wouldn’t be shocked if their founder gets looked at soon by Rome in a positive manner.
Outside of my wife and son, there is nothing in my life more important than youth ministry. Nothing. So to see this thread created in a section (Traditional Catholicism) where it looks like the sole purpose of attracting people to sling mud and defame an organization that is tireless in leading teens/middleschoolers closer to Christ in the Eucharist (and being carried there in the arms of Our Blessed Virgin Mother), it bothers me a lot.

So picking the songs means you are running the Mass? Really?
The same can be said about any Mass then. If the priest doesn’t pick all the songs, and most of them don’t - even for EF Masses - than all the priest is doing is “simply consecrating the hosts”.
The Life Teen Masses organization has been very obedient to the Church in making changes to their published suggestions for Mass. In individual parishes things are implemented according to the talents and ideas of the people involved - including the priest.
Life Teen publishes an entire program for youth group meetings, teen & post-confirmation CCD, and other materials. Youth program directors find them very helpful in implementing consistent, engaging youth programs.
At a time when our parish did not have a youth program director, we looked into the Life Teen program. It was recommended by a very orthodox priest who also happened to love working with youth and wanted to be sure our parish had a strong program. As it turns out, we were able to hire someone shortly after that. What I saw of the published program was not in any way heterodox or scandalous.

There is an SSPX chapel that offers the EF in Lawrence, MA. But it’s over an hour away from my home and I don’t drive.

I so agree. I have been working in youth programs since I graduated from college - aside from a few years of teaching younger kids when my children were also little.
All of the things that people bemoan about their fellow Catholics can be changed with a good youth program. We have had at least 3 vocations to religious life (2 priests and a Carmelite nun) from our program and several others thinking about it. As you said, a strong foundation helps kids get through college and the young adult years when many people drift from their faith.
Strong families, religious vocations, plans to enter careers like teaching or medicine rather than Wall Street, those are the fruits of a good youth program. If Life Teen is the way a particular parish can best implement a strong program, than they should use it.

Sorry, what I was asking was if there were any Masses in EF that were with celebrated by priests in full Communion with the Holy See as opposed to ones with irregular status that you could attend? I noticed your profile said Boston, but I now realize it states “Archdiocese”, which covers a much larger area
, so without driving yet, you are limited on your options for EF. I’m glad to see a young person that appreciates and is spiritually fed by both forms !
