Well MaryHelp777 I’m still pondering. Actually now it’s more like racking my brain. No I don’t see Catholic forums as a hobby. I went to Wikipedia to get a definition and basically it comes down to doing a regular activity for enjoyment. Although I walk, practice hatha yoga, and qigong daily I do these things for health. Either physical. mental, emotional, or spiritual, or a combination of them. I come to caf almost daily(actually quite often) but this is to learn and deepen my practice. I read but again not for enjoyment except for maybe twice a year. The daily reading is usually some sort of spiritual text-sacred or not. So I really don’t see anything I do as a hobby. I love to climb trees but that is only 6 or so times a year (maybe) and the same with roller blading, kayaking, and cycling. All activities I love and enjoy but not often enough to be considered hobbies. I fish but that is to eat what I catch. I enjoy all of these things but that is not the primary focus for me. So I’m still scratching my head.

I have so many I can’t keep up with them! To be fair most are on hold ATM until I finish my masters dissertation, which I am doing while working. I do NOT count my masters as a hobby 😛

But I guess my hobbies would be music, acting and musical theatre (got into it as a kid attending stage school, then I learned guitar as a teenager), reading (I love a good classic or fantasy novel) and exercise (love my spinning class).

As soon as I finish the dissertation I am going to get back into performing and then add some more hobbies to the list 🙂

Ok, so far you get the award for most obscure hobby(hobbies).

I bet it would have been fun to watch the opening ceremonies of the Olympics with you. My husband and I were commenting how many flags looks alike and we were wondering why. Assuming there must be some common thread (pun intended) between some countries.
My husband is also a flag enthusiast. He could tell you some of this. It is interesting stuff.

His record for this quiz is about ten minutes flat. At one point I could actually finish, but then I decided to learn the geography instead.

(Sporcle itself could be a hobby, especially if you just love trivia.)

I like to go running, currently signed up for two half marathons in September and want to attempt a full one in 2017.
AWESOME! good for you!

I too am a runner, I got into it 7 or so years ago after I finished college, I needed a goal to accomplish, so I wanted to run a marathon. Putting on a pair of running shoes was one of the best decisions of my life! I still haven’t run a marathon though, but ask me about 5ks and I’ll have some stories to tell.

I’m also really into Crossfit (look into it if you don’t know about it) and juggling! I’m really trying to get up to 5 balls :D. A strange combination, I know… I also go through phases of playing the piano really intensely and photography, but those do not come as easily habit-wise as my others do.

I’m thinking of Sheldon Cooper’s “Fun with Flags” web show from Big Bang Theory…

I do genealogy which becomes more than a hobby but I love it! I also crochet which I have been doing for over 40 years.
Me too with genealogy. After I retired, I really got into tracing my family tree for a few years. This led to photographing tombstones at various cemeteries around Los Angeles for the website Find A Grave (it sounds morbid, but there’s actually a lot of history to be found, and satisfaction too when distant relatives discover a memorial for a member of their family). Also, I used to collect pocket knives, but that was many years ago.

I write. I have one self-published fiction novella, the sequel to it almost done, and a full length novel well under way. I’m not entirely sure how I got into it. I have always loved to read, and I have always been creative. I guess one day I decided to start writing down one of the stories I would come up with to entertain myself. I loved writing essays in school, especially if it was an open topic paper. It’s a hobby until I sell more than a handful of books and have many more than the three reviews I have on Amazon for my book. Even then, I will still write for fun.

Other than writing, I read a lot. I write mostly fiction, but I tend to read more non-fiction, mostly religious in nature, these days.

Video games are good for sharpening my mind. I enjoy them now and then.

I also love to cook from scratch and develop my own recipes.

My hobbies include:

Paintball.

Following and the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, and the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team.

Reading. Especially Stephen King and military history.

Catholic studies. Learning about the Faith is pretty fascinating to me.

Hiking. I don’t do enough, but I love it.

Lionel electric trains. O/027-guage.
A friend of mine invited me to go paintballing. Let me ask you, do those balls hurt? I am not a fan of pain LOL 😊

I make homemade wines. 🤓
But I tend to change hobbies from time to time. I used to keep planted aquaria; before that I did landscaping. I blog sometimes (apologetics), but even that has slipped from me and I have trouble even posting an article per month, lately.

What…you never watched Sheldon Cooper’s “Fun with Flags”? 😃

There is some commonality in design for some groups of countries that may have a shared history, heritage, or geography…like all the Nordic crosses in Scandinavia, or the fact that Liberia’s flag is based on the US’s because it was founded by freed American slaves.

A lot of countries with almost no connection to each other have flags that look very similar – to the point of being identical. You’ll see that a lot with flags that are two or three colours, either horizontally or vertically. The issue is that there are only so many colour arrangements to go around, so there is often repetition, although many times the colours may have different meanings.

Like, f’rinstance, Andorra, Chad, and Romania:

Or Côte d’Ivoire and Ireland:

Santa brought me a counted cross stitch kit when I was 10 and it was an instant love.

In college I decided I wanted to learn to make clothes for myself but I wanted more portability than using a sewing machine. So I taught myself knitting, which has since become my primary hobby. I also know how to crochet but I enjoy knitting more. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t have to look at my hands while I knit.

I’ve been writing fiction since I could spell but lately I have almost no self confidence so I almost never share it. :o

Also I play Ingress and, yes, Pokemon Go. I’m been playing Ingress for a while and it gets me out of my own town more than Go does. Go may have inspired more trips to the playground and the zoo with my daughter this summer. 😛

I have a few hobbies I guess. Number one would be kayaking. I got into it when I did a taster course in high school and I loved it right away. These days I have my own kayak and compete in wildwater marathon races. I would also love to get into playboating a bit more. That is basically where you find a standing wave or hole in a river and do tricks.
My other hobbys would be cycling and playing g guitar.

The ones I’m known for best are ice hockey and motorcycling. In fact, I combine the two (during good weather) by carrying my sticks and equipment bag with me on the bike.

Additionally, I garden (people know me for my broccoli, plus I’m starting to do San Marzano tomatoes), and I also collect the Hallmark Star Trek Christmas ornaments.

Gardening is my hobby.

I am known for my hot peppers and gardenias.

I play guitar and piano. More of a jazz and classical on piano. More of a bluegrass on guitar.
I also like to read. A lot. If you could see my desk right now you would find quite the stack of books on it (although that’s probably because I’m about to head off to college).

I do like baseball and follow the St. Louis Cardinals closely.

I play a few instruments.
I also do embroidery, especially counted cross-stitch.
I used to build and decorate doll’s houses but I ran out of room for that hobby.

Actually, I think the hobby I spend the most time on if photographing my family and making Shutterfly books. I used to make a photobook every year, but I keep having babies and they’re really cute. Shutterfly only allows something like 130 pages in a book, so last year our photobook had THREE volumes. I promised my husband that I would tone it down to just one book this year but I already know I’m not going to be able to keep that promise.
