Okay, here are mine:

REDUCE Smoking to ten a day then eventually none.

Study Spanish, try to get conversationally adept.

Eat healthier, get Dr Rosenfeld’s book on this.

Get a small dog.

Throw out all junk in house.

Go to Mass OUTSIDE my parish every now and then, we have a gospel type church in DC, St Augustine’s and we have a church that does the Mass in French. We even have the Shrine where I have seldom attended Mass. There’s a DC Church that caters to the Italian community (Holy Rosary holyrosarychurchdc.org/history.html )…so many opportunities to get to know God’s people, why haven’t I done it!?

Well, I need to loose weight and lower my cholesterol levels for sure.

I like the idea of getting rid of the junk in my house. I really need to simplify.

I need to work on organization, too.

  1. Organize the house, train the kids to be obedient.
  2. Stop daydreaming about another house. 😃
  3. Lose weight—I could lose 15 or 20, or…if my dh consents, gain about 25 lbs over nine months then rapidly lose ten or so. 😃
  4. Take over bill paying–build up savings, pay down debt and…TITHE ten percent (the best we’ve ever done is 5%)
  5. Go to Confession once a month, go to Adoration weekly, meditate daily. Eliminate all my vices and develop heroic virtue!
  6. Learn some Spanish (with my kids), but since I can’t roll those stupid r’s, I’m considering switch over to Latin. I wouldn’t be able to talk to anyone in it, but I could throw around impressive sounding phrases in conversations.
  7. Maybe I’ll write a book (Karianne gave me this idea)> :hmmm:
I love resolutions. They help me feel hopeful that I’m working towards something. Of course, God sometimes has better resolutions. Maybe I should pray a little more about this…

I need to do what I had planned for my previous year’s resolutions. 😃

I need to loose about 20lbs, so I’m going on the Atkins diet,
Jan 2nd. I’ve done Atkins before and it works well for me.

However, most of all, I’m going to focus more on my spiritual life. More prayer, less TV.

Also, get back into my water color painting.

Jim

I thought about learning Spanish myself. Heck, I’d add two cable channels to my cable list. 😃

Rosetta Stone, langauge courses have been advertised lately. I wonder if they are any good?

  1. Confirmation at the Easter Vigil
  2. Find more time for prayers (CFP requirements) that do not adversly impact my AA time or spoiling-senior-cats-rotten time
  3. Start thinking seriously about retirement in a Catholic-oreiented community. They must allow cats. This is non-negotiable.
  4. Prepare myself for the death of Max. Like many elderly cats, his kidneys are weak and failing. I must monitor him closely to make sure he is not in pain, discomfort, or suffering. To do this with no knowledge if cats have souls and if I will ever meet him again in Heaven
  5. Once confirmed, to volunteer as an RCIA Sponser for Candidates who do NOT need to go through the whole RCIA process, but can be confirmed on any Sunday outside Easter.

Resolution: Not to make resolutions.

Oops…Already broken that one :whacky:

Serious: Go to noon Mass at least once a week. Make a budget and tithe properly.

Less serious: make up recipes for all the desserts in one of my favourite novels- Bitter Chocolate Death, Buttermost Limit, the Death of Marat, Killer Zebras, Tweedle Dumplings.

Pass my classes with at least a B so I can keep my funding.
Choose a permanent research lab and advisor.
Narrow down possible thesis projects and committee members.
Start studying for real for my preliminary exams (only 15 months left!).
Finish some of my knitting projects and clean out my yarn basket.
Not get sick on Christmas 2007.
Continue to go to Confession monthly (or as close as I can manage). Try and add at least bi-weekly Adoration to that.

Oh, the joys of grad school. I don’t miss those days AT ALL!

Hmmmmm I need to work on my sugar intake… I am a glutton when it comes to the amount of candy and sweets I eat. I am a runner so pounds aren’t a concern but I really think I overdo it still.

Also, to go to adoration weekly

And go to confession more ofen; like monthly

And ace my classes next semester so I will be set for an accerlated nursing program in the fall!!!

Peace be with you all,

Regis University Student

I wish all of you success with your resolutions!

We can DO this thing!

My library actually has these and I’m going to try them. We have some cable channels in Spanish and I was thinking about maybe watching one of the talk shows each day with a spanish dictionary.
I have many Spanish speaking neighbors so I’ll have someone to practice with already-I think that may help.
There’s a meetup in my area for folks who are just learning spanish, it sounds like fun.

I’ve really gotten away from working out and eating well since my classes started again. I could really stand to lose a good 20lbs. So that’s my first goal. Second is to kick butt in my class and learn all I can so I can fly through my exams in August '07, so I can get started on my future career (finally!) Third is to continue confession once a month and add more time for prayer in my life. I’ve been feeling “distant” lately and I hate that. Fourth is to finally get the guest room cleaned out of all the junk we shove in there so it might actually be fit for a guest to stay there. 😛

Happy new year all!

-See Christ in all people more than I do now (which is often lacking as I live in Los Angeles and many people here are quite a challenge to this. 🙂 )

-Give a Saturday several times a year to take action and help the poor (as opposed to just giving money.)

-Speak up more for the faith.

-no more procrastination at work.

Attend Mass daily whenever possible.
