You covered everything I would’ve said and then some, but when I pray the Rosary I think of it as spending time focusing on Jesus with Mary. To Jesus through Mary. Think of it devoted to Our Lady and Our Lord.We all know that the Rosary is a great daily prayer. But it has begun to bother me a bit that I devote 15 minutes a day to Our Lady while I don’t feel like I devote more time in daily prayer to Our Lord. So I’m looking for advice from others, so I can lengthen my time praying to Jesus, spending longer with Him than with Mary, and hopefully strengthening my relationship with the Big Boss.
Some options I already know of
-Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (but there’s no way I can do it for more than 15 minutes a day)
-Stations of the Cross
-Chaplet of Divine Mercy (but if it’s recited, it takes less than five minutes to do)
-Meditation or reading Scripture (but I would do those things anyway, and they don’t count as verbal prayers to me)
-Singing Psalms or other Hymns
-Using a Prayer Rope/Jesus Prayer
-Liturgy of the Hours (a long task that I’m not ready for quite yet)
-Mass of course (but I’m not always able to make it to daily Mass)
Any other suggestions?
This takes about two minutes, but I think it is a very nice prayer:
I adore You, O glorious Cross, which was adorned with the Heart and Body of my Savior Jesus Christ, stained and covered with blood. I adore You, O Holy Cross, out of love for Him, Jesus, who is my Savior and my God.
Keep in mind it’s relative adoration.(Pope Pius IX declared that reciting this prayer five times on Friday will free five souls from Purgatory and 33 souls by reciting it on Good Friday. This prayer should be recited before a crucifix with a contrite heart and praying a few minutes for the Pope).
