I am Catholic and i believe that capital punishment has a place in our justice system. However, I belive that capital punishment as practiced in this country, is ineffective. ineffective because of the length of time between crime and punishment. ineffective because of the uncertainty of punishment. Most criminals sentenced to death die in prison of old age. It costs more to incarcerate a death row felon than any other. The appeal process is endless and expensive. My solution: Summary execution for confessed rapists, child molesters/rapists, killers for hire, gang murder, serial murder, arsonists for hire and treason. Trial for murder under enhanced circumstances, two appeals max, death if found guilty. If these punishments were certain, we could empty the death rows of our nation. Change execution method from lethal injection to guillotine, fast, humane and cheap.
