This is from Wikipedia, but there are other similar reports:

“On October 30, 2017, while on The View, Lentz was asked if he believed abortion was a sin; he did not answer the question directly, instead saying that “The cultural, religious norm right now is that if you and I disagree, we’re done. I don’t believe that’s the case.”[10] Eight days later, Lentz released a statement via Twitter saying “I do believe abortion is sinful.”[11]”

i never heard of “carl lentz” ; it is no surprise to me that if “he” appeared" on “the View” that "he waffled on the abortion issue

my impression from OP was that “Hillsong” is an “Australian” evangelical “church” with a third rate music ministry

i’m PRO-LIFE

For those who have zero relationship with Jesus at all and otherwise might not, this emotional-psychological bend (especially for teens) is an ok place to start. It at least opens a door that could potentially lead them to an entire life of faith and love of God. However, when that emotional stuff is the only basis, it risks running thin quickly - so for your friends that are just beyond the initial emotional high but still engaged, it’s prime time to evangelize with something of substance.

If people are finding Jesus rather than finding drugs or bad things, then fine for them.

I wouldn’t know Hillsong Church from my left shoe and if it’s not a Catholic church, I don’t pay much attention to it.

I’m pro-life, too, but tweeting about a week after the fact surely didn’t impact the View - not that anything probably would. If he was going to make a statement about his views on abortion, it probably should’ve been done at that moment in time.

Hillsong is a huge church in Australia (with the group originating with that church), but perhaps they have affiliates here in the US.

I found this on their website:

Third rate music? I think that’s harsh. They’ve actually put out some good music with songs like “Mighty to Save”, “Let the Peace of God Reign”, “Oceans”, & “Touch the Sky”…

This is true.

There is a local church where I live that my family attends (I’m the only Catholic at home, so my husband attends mass with me whenever he can, & I attend with him & the family at this other church afterwards). The music has progressively gotten louder & louder so that they offer attendees free earplugs (That should be common sense already that if anyone needs any earplugs at all, the music is too loud. I get “making a joyful noise”, but this is nonsensical).

I also note that many of the sermons have been repeated over time, & that while practical info is offered about life situations - which can arguably be helpful - there isn’t always much Scripture. Sometimes, too, I note that differences of teaching come out - like the time one of the pastors was preaching about baptism as a symbol that doesn’t save.

The church has no cross visible. I get that the cross offends some, & some people have had negative church experiences, but despite being a seeker-friendly church, it should bear a cross.

My husband had once summed it up when asked if he comes to church to be entertained, & he answered in the affirmative. I guess this is what church has come to mean for some. The irony was that he’d also stated that he wanted more meat - more Scripture, but when challenged with the mass offering this substance, he said he found it “boring”. He still sometimes does get something out of it though - even without being able to partake of the Eucharist.
