I soooo agree !! Not sure about the job market in your DH’s field… but Alabama is so beautiful and the cost of housing is so cheap !! Alot of house for your $. Plus the people are so very sweet… and this is my favorite part… you can go out into your backyard and pick pecans right off the ground… how cool is that?
Carol Marie, CatholicSam and PA…yes, Alabama is beautiful, especially the northern part. EWTN is about 2 hour drive from Huntsville.
As for cost of living… we built our 2500 sq ft home for 90,000 eight years ago. It would probably cost about 120,000 now, but still cheap. Property taxes are not bad if you get in the rural areas. And really, the jobs do pay well. We own our own business, but have family who work in 'high tech" areas making around 85,000 a year.
I live in a rural area…nope, do not have DSL, just sloooowwww dial up! But, a lot of people live in rural areas and commute to the larger cities.
The homeschooling laws are not bad. There are many organizations for your children to be involved in with homeschooling.
Where I live is the most beautiful Catholic Church in Alabama, IMO. When I was little I use to call it Cinderella’s castle! I live in a conservative town that was founded by German Catholics.
PM me if you would like more info!!
Only weather warnings would be tornadoes occasionally. Like it’s about 50 degrees in the daytime and about 35 at night right now.
Oh, and we have lots of cotton fields!
Buy American cotton everyone!
