What Biblical passages should one know by heart?

Regarding the fact that the Bible is more of a narrative, and that its more important to know the stories than the semantics of a sentence. I agree. However, it doesn’t hurt to know specific passages, right? 😉
 
Know by heart? It doesn’t matter. 🤷

Have IN your heart? All of them. 👍
 
I’m not sure about specific Bible verses, with the exceptions of those critical to the Church’s understanding of salvation and Jesus Christ’s real presence.

I’d be more concerned with the general story of salvation, from Genesis, through Exodus, etc., etc., through the Gospels (which in most of these books entails a few critical chapters) – for you to be able to see the logic, the movement, and explain it quickly. (Something like this.)

This book also has some very beautiful, inspirational, and relevant Scriptural insight into our relationship to the Trinity that I’ve found myself memorizing and repeating constantly.

Mathew 4:4 and Luke 4:4, which is a quote from Deut. 8:3.

“It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
