The Hadrian Memorandum by Allan Folsom.

It’s not The Day After Tomorrow but it is good.
 
Just finished the play Our Town by Thornton Wilder.
Now reading To Kill a Mockingbird
Next might either read the Tale of Two Cities or The Great Awakening by Jim Wallis.
 
Just finished reading Rosemary’s Baby by Ira Levin, and am currently reading the sequel, Son of Rosemary.
Also reading Pet Cemetary by Stephen King.

I finished “The Rite” a littile while back…very good book…better buckle up and have some holy water on hand !

If you find that you want to continue on the subject of demonolgy I would highly suggest “The Demonologist” by Gerald Daniel Brittle and again, I caution you…say your prayers first !

I bought The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis for my Kindle and am reading that.
 
It always amazes me how some of you can read more than one book at a time.

I wouldn’t be able to do this because I would be lost and confused.:confused:

Would you recommend any books by Fr. Gabriele Amorth?

You always mention having Holy water at hand which is indeed a good thing. A person should also ask for help from St. Michael the Archangel, St. Benedict of Nursia, St. Anthony of Padua, and there are countless of Saints and Holy men and women that people could turn to for help and always always to Our Lord Jesus.

AnthonyM2- I would love to read books by Pope Benedict XVI’s. Actually, I wouldn’t mnd to read books about Pope Benedict XVI (even children’s books) just to understand him better.

I wonder how Pope Benedict XVI finds the time to write? He could be a great influence to those who want to write.

MJE- The book you are reading by Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson and Thomas Nelson sounds very interesting and might I add educational.

LionofNarnia- “Indian Killer” by: Sheman Alexie sounds very interesting and a non-stop page turner. I read about some of his other books and they too sound very interesting.
I’ve also watched the movie “Smoke Signals” which is adapted from one of his books.

Have you watched the movie based on the book? Does it do justice or is too “Hollywood”?

MillTownCath- I have read “To Kill a Mockingbird” while I was in Elementary school. I was surprised when my nephew had to read it in Highschool.

I have to admit I was a bit mixed up on who Scout and Jem were.

I am still reading “Looking for China: Reflections on a silk road” by: Judy Schultz.

I have put that book aside and now I have read two “Readers Digest Magazines”

Thanks. I also watched the movie “The Rite” and the book is much better.

I’m probably weird, but the book was a comfort to me.

Next up in this line of reading will be Fr. Amorth’s “An Exorcist Tells His Story”
 
goforgoal…about reading “The Demonologist”…yes and no, I had to put it down for a while. It was just too intense…started getting bad dreams, waking up with a rotten smell in the room, seriously. Yeah, I guess I did mention holy water alot. I keep it right next to me anyway but I guess I like it because it’s tangible and it sends a clear message. I would bless before and after reading along with the Saint Michael prayer. All the books written about the subject don’t compare to “The Demonologist.” You have to read it to know what I mean.

Im doing the research on all this because Im an addictions counselor, (drugs), and I know some ex-addicts that have had some “unholy encounters”…I thought I could understand it better, maybe find a link to it.

And yes, I would recommend “An Exorcist , More Stories” by Fr. Amorth…the good father goes in depth and explains demonology from a clergyman’s aspect ; such as Satan’s extraordinary activity… permissiveness, diabolic subjugation, pure divine permission, etc. I got the most from him and The Warrens…
When I had to put The Warrens book down I jumped over to “God Wants You Happy” by Fr. Jonathan Morris…yeah I know, quite a contrast…but it worked ! lol

I LOVE Sherman Alexie. I just wanted to point out, for the faint of heart, that there are some really hard images to get out of my head after reading the book. Graphic killings and just really disturbed behavior. Ultimately, that’s Alexie’s point, but it’s still a bit tough to get through and I’m used to reading books with some violence. It’s just that his writing is so good and detailed that it seemed to effect me more than usual.

They used many of his short stories in my creative writing classes in university to teach us style and literary elements. He’s amazing.
