Greetings to those reading and or posting in this thread,

1984 by George Orwell. It was time to revisit this book.

God Bless.

I loved 1984! I just got finished reading Stephen King’s 11/22/63-where a time traveler tries to change history by eliminating Oswald so he doesn’t shoot Kennedy, and the consequences of his actions.

It is a real page turner, but 841 pages. I think that along with “The Stand” its the best book he’s ever written. I borrowed it from the library, because the book itself is expensive, even the Kindle edition ($14.99).

Last night here at school I met a girl from Maine (Stephen King’s home state) and we had a really nice discussion on Mr. King. Although I’ve started about 7 of his books, I’ve only finished 1 (On Writing). I’m going to try to read Misery in its entirety when I get home for break. 11/22/63 sounds interesting, but is too long for my taste. But Misery, Carrie, and 'Salem’s Lot are on the top of my reading list .

To me, Misery was not a good read but everyone has different tastes. I really liked “IT” too, because I was born just a few years before the Boomer generation and could relate to it. The kids in it are brave, and it showcases a town, Derry, that for awhile Stephen King would refer to in some of his other books. Ever since I’ve read “IT” (and that was about 20 years ago) seeing clowns with balloons give me the creeps! And the characters also stayed with me. They made a TV movie about it but it didn’t give the book justice.

Just finished “Jesus of Nazareth” by Pope Benedict XVI, around 700 pages, will probably reread before returning it.

so many books, so little time, and can only read one at a time myself.

Greetings Utah rose,

Yeah The Stand is one of my favourites as well. I did not care for the Gunslinger books though.

I seem to be in a comfort reading stage, like comfort food without the calories. I am reading the Redwall books, currently reading Martin the Warrior. My grandkids think it’s funny I read kids books but no sex, no drugs, the good guys always win…what’s not to like?

I’m halfway through Rediscovering Catholicism. It is a great motivation book for self improvement.

Finished Grisham’s The Testament, which was surprisingly reverent and all from him, in a fast-track series of four books (there’s a 3+1 promotion at a certain bookshop I go to, hence the marathons of four ;)), now back to Lord of the Rings, I guess. But I gotta read lots of lawyerly stuff for my current degree work.

Pope Benedict Books are really good, but deep. Thats why I don’t have them as an e book but a regular one. Fr. Benedict Groeshels are also good, and I have them as regular books. There is one that I’m reading now (because I have weird dreams) and thats “The Secret of Dreams” by Pedro Meseguer, S.J. which I believe was written in 1960 (and it has an imprimatur in it). This one is really slow reading, think if you were studying theology or philosophy, it would be a little easier but it is very interesting.

The thing I like about it is it’s about the Church’s views. It mentions Freud and Jung but then proceeds to pick apart some of their theories. Its definitely not New Age View.

I liked the Redwall books as a kid, but I never read them all. Maybe I will someday. Good memories. 🙂

Just bought *A Father’s Tale *By Michale O’Brien. Although I have to finish Walking with God before I begin.

Walking With God is a teaching me a lot about the OT.

I am looking forward to starting *A Father’s Tale *but it’s 1000+ pages is a bit intimidating. I hear it is very good.

About 50 pages into *Flow my Tears, the Policeman Said * by Philip K. dick.

God bless

I’m currently reading Tongues of Serpents by Naomi Novik, which is #6 in her Temeraire series (basically, the Napoleonic Wars WITH DRAGONS!) and Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning (I don’t love her books, but I must see how this story ends, I must!).

I am currently reading “True Devotion” To The Blessed Virgin bu St Louis De Montfort

Greetings LukeSr,

That’s a good book or at least to the part I have read up to. I need to finish it and do the Consecration.

May you be blessed as you read it. And may your devotion and love of Jesus grow through our Blessed Mother.

God Bless.
