Aw come on. If you find Catcher In The Rye offensive then you’ve definitely over sensitive. Its one of the quintessential “growing up” novels. You surely can’t be suggesting that you’d rather sacrificed authenticity/realism etc. for the sake of mild language? Posts like this absolutely blow my mind.
I didn’t find Catcher in the Rye offensive, just boring.

Call me crazy but I don’t like the words ‘goddamn’ and Chrissake’ in every 3rd sentence.

Currently reading The Firestarter by Stephen King. Man, can that guy write or what!

I’m reading A Return to Modesty: discovering the lost virtue.* by Wendy Shalit*

A tedious sounding title I know, but man has it made me think!

I’m reading H.P. Lovecraft: The Complete Fiction.
I don’t agree with his underying philosophy, but I like his imagination.

Armageddon’s Children by Terry Brooks. It’s the first in the Genesis of Shannara trilogy

I wasn’t thrilled by it either. It was vaguely diverting in terms of believably charting the mental decline of an adolescent male, and I’m glad I read it… but mainly because I’ve finally ticked it off my reading list.

Manual of the Third (Secular) Order of Our Blessed Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Teresa of Jesus. (Quite a mouthful for such a modest little book! 😃 )

Doing the Bible & Catechism in a year thing too, though hopefully I’ll complete it in sixth months if I continue at the rate I am currently going.

I’m also perusing The Life Of Mary As Seen By The Mystics, The Life Of St. Teresa Of Avila, and the Oxford Illustrated History Of Medieval England.

… Yeah, I have *far *too much time on my hands. Can you tell? 😉

The Elves of Cintra by Terry Brooks.

Armageddon’s Children was incredibly dark. It was a pain to get through.

I’m currently reading Cassandra Clare’s “The Mortal Instruments” series; I’m on book two: City of Ashes.

I’ll also be reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon in a few days time; it’s one of the books my English teacher wants us to read.

Yes, read this. It is a very good read. A real page-turner and tightly written.

I am reading “We Need to Talk About Kevin”. I’m enjoying it.

I just got finished reading “The Testament” by John Grisham and are now reading two books on my Kindle, “The Mystical City of God” and “When Hitler took Austria”, two very different books. I think I read the first one (in paperback) but its nice to reread it again as its about the Blessed Virgin and is very inspiring.

I started Anne Rice’s new book (loaned by the library) “The Wolf Gift” but find I’m not that attracted to these kind of books anymore.

I started The Testament twice but never finished it.

Thanks for reminding me – ineed to get rid of my copies of Anne Rice’s Christ THe Lord series.

Just finished Hunger Games. I am now re-reading A Morbid Taste for Bones – the first book in The Chronicles of Brother Cadfael series.

I am reading:

The Eye of the World - by Robert Jordan
The Case for Christ - by Lee Strobel
Christianity for Dummies - by Richard Wagner
The Gospel of John - in the New Testament

I don’t like to read two books at a time, but…

The Gypsy Morph by Terry Brooks
The Hunger Games bySuzanne Collins - I’m reading this with my son. He wanted to see the movie and I told him if he reads the book with me, we’ll go see it.

I plan to start reading The Seance by John Harwood.

Nothing like a good old fashioned Victorian ghost story.

Yep.
