What brings non-Catholics to CAF?

I’m a former Catholic, and I still like reading posts about Catholic issues, especially the Vocations section and the Ask The Apologist posts. I used to post, but now I just lurk. Except today 🙂
What made you decide to become a Mormon and leave Catholicism?

If too personal feel free to PM me.

My grandmother was Catholic; she left the church when she married my grandfather. I currently attend a Southern Baptist church, but being always hungry for spiritual knowledge, I read about other religions. Catholicism is one of the most beautiful. I have learned so much from this site. I really have come to love and appreciate it.

I came here with a curiosity about the Catholic Church. Now Im here to learn more about the Church while I wait for my RCIA classes and Confirmation. I can hardly wait seems so far away but so worth the wait.

I saw somebody asking questions about my religion and thought I’d lend a hand.
This is basically why I joined, only it wasn’t my religion specifically, just Paganism in general. I stay around because most of the members here are nice (I just ignore the less-than-nice ones).

I was an Evangelical lurker looking to further explore Catholicism because it’s the faith of my family, and “Catholics needed saving from Religion, and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ” The standard Calvary Chapel Catholic bashing non-sense. My Catholic bashing pastor kept telling us what Catholics believe, but the more I looked into Christian History, the more I learned that he didn’t know what he was talking about.

I essentially came here to let Catholics speak about Catholicism, so that I may better understand Catholicism in order to evangelize my confused and misguided family 😉 Looks like I was the one that was confused, and misguided 😊 being that I reverted back to the One True Faith 😃

So, what brought me hear was a presupposition that I had learned in a social order, that was being handed down through tradition: A MEME!

So Glad to be Home 👍

I’m here because it’s fun to watch the Catholic church resurrect herself.

Where I’m from, the Catholic church was a limp-wristed and lame. Maybe my perceptions has changed, but it seems that the Catholic church that built cathedrals is back. And it’s fun to watch from a safe distance 😉

I’m here because the Lutherans don’t have the equivalent type of forum and the generic Christian forums seem pretty weak and simply awash in feelings.

CAF has very informative and charitable discussions. I feel welcome here.

Welcome Home indeed!

👍

I found this place during my search for knowledge and true christianity, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into 😃
I was a Luthern by Family tradition but never practiced, then when my kid ended up in the ICU I started looking into my faith, disagreed with some of the things I read, and started to ask questions. I ended up here and crossed the tiber 2 years ago now.
That and all the other pages were basiclly catholic bashing sites that was impossible to get a straight answer out of them.

I may not post alot but I’m here everyday

I have seen Protestants, Jews, Buddhists, Agnostics, and Atheists here (I have yet to see Islam represented) and am curious as to what brought you to CAF? I’m here to learn about my Catholic faith, and would love to hear why others are here.
I have seen Islam represented on here, though I’m sorry I don’t remember which thread or post.

I am here because I learned about my Catholic faith. Actually. I leraned reather well. I got top grades in catechism, religion, and theology as long as I was in the Catholic school system–which served me very well, for the most part. And I am grateful for that.

Technically I am a Catholic because I was baptized as such. But after an impasse with attempting to discover the significance of experiencing a very major life changing mystical event, I found only obfuscation and evasion on the part of both clerics and other resources. Finally I went outside the Church and found a spiritual adviser, one might say, to whom even such as Mother Teresa went, and admired, and found useful. But now he has passed, hence I am, as my description says “ronin” in both senses of the word. So I am on here to find any who might be in a situation similar to mine and offer them my expereience. In the mean time, I have had some fascinating conversations. But it seems to me that most of the really interesting people, unlsee they were just angry or really derogatory, get banned. That is unfortunate and a loss for all who remain.

It seems to me that people will either join an opposite site to learn/debate (For example, I joined alot of Left-Wing political forums), or they will join to create trouble against their “enemies”. As with Religion, Staunch Atheists never seem to fail to try and create trouble for everyone else. The only Atheists I can seem to stand are those who were religious at one time, then for one reson, or another, is no longer in God’s Grace. For example, there was one individual on my other political forum who WAS Catholic, until certain events made him renounce his Faith. This man was very nice, and generous… not ANYTHING like the true Atheists, who know nothing but hate.

… Good news though; this man has since returned to his Catholic Faith with open arms, and couldn’t be happier. 🙂

I guess I am here to try to figure out what church I want to belong to. I have been baptized Lutheran at birth, Catholic at age 11, Baptist at age 16, and Mormon at age 20. Then I fell away from all religions for 23 years. I stayed faithful (for the most part) to my belief in God and Jesus, but could not bring myself to go to church anywhere…because I found religion in itself confusing… …

Unfortunately now at the age of 43 . . .it is still confusing. 😦

Working on it though.

You are in my Prayers, Brother! 🙂 I hope you find a Path to God, once more.

The Truth shall set you free!

🙂

It all makes sense once you realize that Jesus created the Catholic Church and the gates of Hell will not prevail against His Church!

Glad you’re here. Watch EWTN if you have cable or satellite, too. Ask as many questions as you need to.

I’m here because I decided recently to reexamine the Catholic Church’s claims to be the one true, apostolic church. I was a serious Catholic about 27 years ago, then left for Protestantism, and now I feel drawn to explore the Church.
You are always welcome to return to the Lords
Church!! 🙂
