Even if your wife were not successful in the annulment the process is very healing and not a cause of hurt. I would be interested to know what else someone can do? are they allowed to read what part can they play in the community?

They would not be able to act in any leadership role within the liturgy or as a Catechist (teacher of doctrine), but they could certainly participate in other aspects of parish life, such as cooking for parish events, helping with construction projects, and that kind of thing.
