A Co worker who I have know for about 4 years came up to me and asked me a difficult question I could not answer. He was brought up catholic by parents who only took him to church occational and couldn’t afford catholic school. He left the church in his late teen and strayed from the faith and even questioned the existance of God during that time. He has made a lot of mistakes and has a lot of sin. In his early 20’s he was dating a girl who became pregnant. The girl approached him about it and told him she was having an abortion. He did nothing to support her but he didn’t stop her or make any attempt to stop her. He kept telling himself that she was committing the sin not him. I told him this might not be the case.
He is 37 years old now and has a lovely wife and two beautiful girls. They have been going to to the catholic church every sunday for the past 5 or 6 years and he has dedicated his life to being more than a good catholic but an advocate for the Catholic Church. He told me he hasn’t gone to confession since he was about 9 years old and is afraid to confess this aweful sin. He is afraid if he doesn’t he is going to go to hell. And he is afraid if he does that the priest is going to excommunicate him . Not knowing what to do is killing him inside and causing him great anguish. I don’t know what to tell him
