I was hoping someone could tell me where to find information about the San Damiano crucifix. I have started seeing it, or at least noticing it recently. Frequently it is associated with Franciscan communities that I have seen. I cannot find much information about this crucifix on here, New Advent, EWTN, etc. I really like how it looks and want to consider bringing one into my house. On the one hand, I try to be very careful not to bring anything not authentically Catholic into the house, but on the other I have seen this form of the crucifix on places I trust like EWTN Catatlouge, on EWTN Television etc. I was just hoping to get some more information so we can pay proper devotion if any special devotional activities are prescribed to it.

The San Damiano crucifix is believed to be a replica of the crucifix that “spoke” to St. Francis of Assisi in the Church of San Damiano, urging him to “Rebuild my Church.” It is an important icon in Franciscan spirituality. You can read more about it at the link below.
