Please forgive my lack of knowledge about this :o… and thus, the poor wording…

I’m interested to know if there are any loyal Catholic groups that are in good standing, where one could join as many as they please, be recognized as a lifetime member of the group, receive mailings, but not so formal as to have a horarium or have meet-ups? I use the word “group” because I don’t know what else to use. I know there are third order seculars, but I’m *not *actually meaning to inquire about third orders. Maybe oblates is the word… or society, lol or group? I think there’s a group that prays for the poor souls in purgatory, and there are other groups with various interests. Anyway, I’m interested in finding out more about Catholic groups to join…

I hope someone can read through all that to understand what I’m looking for

Maybe I’m thinking of confraternities… but for girls or both. I don’t know what that would be called then :o. Maybe I’m just looking for associations?

Hmmm… based on my own search, I guess my question is: “What are the loyal Catholic organizations that laypeople can join?” Worldwide is fine.

I did find this

I also found this. I think I’ve answered my own question, as sometimes can happen :doh2:. But maybe in the future if someone has the same question, they’ll see something here that will be of help. Anyway, I guess now I just invite anyone with suggestions of societies that they like or recommend. God bless.

Those are two very good resources.

I have seen a lot of good come from the Focalare movement, (Work of Mary). They are present in the US and I haven’t seen any particular obligations to participate. They are in good standing with the Pope and I think they have started the investigation for the cause of their foundress who died a few years ago.

There are also groups called Sodalities. They have been around a long time but I really don’t know a whole lot about them. Might be worth checking into though.

You can check out the lay movement connected with the apostles of the Interior Life: they have various levels of involvement:
  1. **friends **like to receive the monthly meditation and perhaps participate in some events
  2. **collaborators **like to see the sisters on a regular basis and commit to daily prayer
  3. **family **want to enjoy not only the company of the sisters and daily prayer, but also do apostolate in conjunction with the sisters and according to the style of the community.
