What Catholic Speaker Would You Choose to Listen To?

I am wanting to host an all day Catholic event in my community and I think this would be a good opportunity to evangelize and get people motivated.

I am trying to figure out a guest speaker for this event. I was wondering if you could help my by giving me your opinion and why.

Scott Hahn and Fr. Barron would be my top two choices. Both of them are very gifted speakers who are able to communicate profoundly deep mysteries in profoundly simple terms. It is a rare gift to be so adept at both.

Peter Kreeft is great, too. He doesn’t quite have the charisma of Hahn or Barron, but he has a gentle authenticity to him that makes you want to do whatever he tells you. 🙂

West doesn’t always jive well with everyone’s sensibilities on what is for most a pretty sensitive area of discussion, but he’s good at what he does.
 
Fr. Larry, I love him so much!! He’s funny and sweet and makes everyone comfortable. He’s good especially for young adults. 😛

Hehehe, I dooo!! When I’m in Erie I always go to his parish for mass. He’s one of my favorite priests ever. 🙂
 
Actually any one of them would be awesome. I chose FR. Barron because of his new series on Catholicism. It is a wonderful series and i could listen to him all day. I have heard Peter Kreeft speak at a Catholic Medical Association meeting and he was incredible teacher.
Any theologically sound speaker you have here would be great. I was also thinking of Jason Evert or Leah Darrow for speakers. Not only would they be great to draw in the younger people, they would be great for the parents who need to be reminded that we must teach our children the virtues of chastity and modesty and those virtues begin at home.

Thanks for those other suggestions. 👍 I have never heard of Leah Darrow.
 
If cost is no factor …
Any of the above choices, plus Archbishop Chaput, plus Stephen Ray.
 
If you are having an all-day event, I’d look for a composer who also speaks and brings his music and perhaps that of others to the party.
 
Only ones I know of from the list are Michael Voris and Dr. Scott Hahn.

For me, Michael Voris is very good not only at giving the facts but also reminding people how we are supposed to be as Catholics. If you want people to reflect on how they’ve been living and if it’s within the teachings of the church, he would be great. I was actually watching a speech he did on St. Michael and the archangels, which you can find on Youtube. It was very effective, imo.

Dr. Scot Hahn is a bit different. He’s more scholarly and more about strengthening our faith. He’s far gentler than Voris but could probably help the Catholic that is being led astray by Protestant groups.

I think they’re both awesome. I know Dr. Hahn is going to speak in my city, in March. I am hoping I can get reservations to see him on time. I would even want his autograph for my Catholic encyclopedia.

But I think Michael Voris excites me more. He’s just wow.

I also think Fr. Benedict Groeschel is great, just based on his lecture about depression. I bet he has out great speeches as well.

I have been trying to find how to contact Fr. Groeschel to speak but I have had no luck - perhaps he’s not doing it because of age???

I’ve seen both Jason Evert and Leah Darrow speak and it was tremendously powerful to the teens present. They were/are still taking about it up to a year later.

Many of the others on your list I would love to see but have only seen/listened to taped recordings or read their works. For an all day event, music in addition to speakers sounds great.

Let us know who you end up engaging as speakers.

Voris is the wake up call we need for these troubled times!
My mother is almost 80 years old, a faithful catholic in a conservative parish, and did not believe that there were unfaithful bishops. That is untill we got her an ipad. Now she is speading the word and praying more for bishops. Also no longer contributing to CCHD. Thanks for posting.
