What causes a post to close?

I was into this discussion on a post and earlier this morening it was open and now it is closed. just curious. the post was about original sin being a blessing

I think i put this in the wrong category accidently, sorry
 
In my experience, there can be several reasons:
  1. the question has been answered (“What date is the feast of the Assumption? August 15th.”), and so the mods feel further discussion is pointless,
  2. the thread is getting heated (name-calling, frayed tempers, slander, accusations) and the mods want to shut it down (your average political or “I don’t like Pope Francis” thread),
  3. there is already a duplicate thread addressing the same issue,
  4. a very old thread has inadvertently been revived, or
  5. the thread has been derailed and posts are no longer dealing with the original topic (your average Presidential election or Harry Potter thread).
Some topics are banned (check the Forum FAQ and rules), but such threads are generally deleted rather then closed. 🙂
 
thanks. im assuming it may follow under #1/2. wasn’t exactly heated like name calling and such but I guess points were proven. It was just an interesting discussion that I liked talking about.
 
Questions like these are better posted in the concierge desk or staff chat. This is Prayer Intention Forum.

Also, I would strongly recommend not concerning oneself with closed or removed threads. It isn’t worth worrying over. If there is a problem coming from your account, site staff will contact you.

i wasnt worried, just curious. and i said in the post i accidently put this in the wrong category. but i couldnt figure out how to delete it
