KentickyLiz! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

This is a :newidea: idea!

That would make a great stage play as well. It would be perfect for an Easter-theme production! Wow!!!

PM me or email me! I have some ideas!

Or maybe they became friends of the family, and kept in touch somehow.

Um - this is unlikely, and right away it would be spotted as being unrealistic, since even up until quite recently, most people didn’t change occupations mid-career - they didn’t even change jobs, never mind careers. Those shepherds most likely watched the same flock of sheep from the time they could toddle until they died, just like their fathers and grandfathers before them, and their children’s children after them.
Friends of the family–good idea, but what would bring the Holy Family back to the area again?

Or maybe they see each other in Jerusalem on one of the feasts? Walk along together on the road? (Not looking at a map.) Maybe the shepherds help look for the Lost Jesus.

I know unrealistic thing is so; it would take some pretty good story to invite some willing suspension of disbelief. I just like the aspect of developing a Two Ways for greater conflict and dramatic impact. A bit “on the nose,” perhaps?

Thanks for your response! I’m workshopping here.

I’m not sure if its been put onto dvd yet but in the late 1970’s British TV did a mini series movie on Paul and Anthony Hopkins played Paul. I have it on VHS.
I have got this movie on DVD. I bought it quite recently. I was surprised that Anthony Hopkins is in a biblically based movie.
What’s the name of this movie, please?

rpp: Thanks! Stage play is an interesting idea! Interesting possibilities for lighting effects, but you’d need a big space, and you’d have to start with a very dark theater. Perhaps the early people arriving with light could hold a candle; then the lamps and the stage lights get bigger and lighter until Yeshua himself and the ascent out of Sheol is bringing all the lights and the house lights up to full blast. Maybe the last Easter morn scene is a white-yellow “sun” light from offstage just to the left or right and all you hear is a woman’s voice–*Rabboni! *and a thud as she hits the dirt. * Let go of me, for I must ascend to the Father.

*Hey, thanks for the idea.

I have two scenes in my mind that should go side by side.

The first scene takes place in an idyllic garden untouched by human hands. The three o’clock sun shines through the trees and all of a sudden, as the sun brightens its entrance, you realize there is a cave at the end of the garden. Dolly forward to the cave, and look inside. There is what appears to be a pile of mud on the cave floor. At that moment, human eyes peer out of the mud, a hand pokes out, and then a man, covered in mud, stands up - the mud pile is gone, now. He comes out of the cave and blinks into the sunlight, and he begins to walk, his muddy footprints leading away from the cave.

Second scene, same garden, except that this time, there is evidence that someone has been trimming the rose bushes, mowing the lawn, etc. The sun is just rising, and as the light grows, you become aware that a stone is falling away from the entrance of the same cave. Once again, we dolly forward to the cave entrance, and this time, we see a dead body, wrapped in linen cloths, lying on a slab in the cave. (Same actor as before.) Suddenly, he turns his head, and the cloth covering his face falls to the ground - his grey face flushes red, and his eyes open. As he sits up, the linen wrappings fall away. He gets up slowly (makes the same movements as the mud-man in the first scene), folds them neatly, and walks to the entrance of the cave - he’s naked. He looks out, sees that the coast is clear, and walks purposefully away, leaving exactly the same footprints behind as in the first scene.

Wow! That’s really beautiful! I’m not sure how you can represent a man forming out of the mud unless you use Industrial Light and Magic–lots of SFX. Unless the whole thing is claymation!

Ooh, claymation. that has possibilities…valley of dry bones of Ezekiel…

The story fo the three fathers. So mach “drama” in so few chapters.

What about the book of JOB? It has everything necessary to make an epic saga!

I don’t know - not much imagery at the end. Just some poor guy living in the garbage dump, being hassled by his “friends” because of his alleged “sins.”

I guess I don’t understand your response to JOB.

Living in a garbage dump?

“Thus the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his earlier ones” Job 42:12

Don’t you remember his wife kicking him out of the house because of his awful skin disease? And then he went and lived in the garbage dump, because nobody would take him in. That’s where his friends found him, and then for the next several chapters, he just gets lectured to by his friends, who are trying to help him discern his sins.

Of course - at the very very end, which doesn’t take very long. I was thinking of the majority part of the story, which is just these guys having a long conversation at the garbage dump.

*much
I need to fix my “normal” keybord soon…
Abra(ha)m, Issac, and Jacob. I read all of Genesis, very beautifull.
Ahhhhhhh…

I was listening to a Bible Study on this. It’s cool.

Abraham pre-figures God the Father.
Isaac pre-figures Jesus

yeah, I know, everyone knows that already.

But…

The un-named servant who was sent to retrieve a bride for Isaac? Pre-figures the Holy Spirit.

Rachel the Bride? Pre-figures the Bride of Christ - The Church of course!!!

Yeah, it’s been done before. I think they called it “Sanford and Son”.
