I understand your point of view, as I grew up with it. My question was more along the lines of “is this permissible for Catholics?” I bet that it is, as most popes throughout history have rejected religious freedom, and most of the saints too until the 20th century. But I wonder whether the Church has authoritatively said anything like, “Now we know better, so now Catholics are forbidden from holding this point of view.”

I don’t think the Church has done anything like this at all. I just wanted to make sure.
 
NFP - I don’t use this as an excuse to allow ABC. I’d say, condemn them both.

Muslims worshiping the same God - It’s hard to accept this, considering the book they follow is the revelation of Satan.
 
The one Church teaching that I have the most trouble with is the one forbidding the use of condoms. However, I do understand why the Church teaches that we should not use condoms and I agree with it. I just have trouble with it because what if you are a married couple who has contracted the HIV virus somehow?

Holly, in that case it would be okay to use condoms. An indirect side effect of the prevention of the spread of HIV is the prevention of conception. The couple wouldn’t be using the condom with the sole purpose of preventing conception.

Does that make sense?
 
One of the church’s teachings I have the most trouble with is their teaching that homosexuals should be celibate for their entire life unless they somehow “become” straight. I just cannot see how two people of the same sex in a loving and chaste relationship (no crazy sex, at the most just kisses) could be viewed as a sin. And even if they are having sex, who cares? It’s their life.

I also am confused when it comes to marital sexual acts. I feel like the church wants to have control over everyone’s sex life. No sex that leads to orgasm outside the woman, EVEN in marriage?? Must every sex act be open to life? Why can’t a husband and wife just pleasure each other without worrying about the male orgasming outside the woman? That is something I have a hard time wrapping my head around.

Crazy, no? I wonder how many Catholics honestly even care or know about the Church’s stipulations in this area…

These issues affect people deeply, so it’s no wonder so many people (including myself) feel a little perplexed here.
