What Color Vestments Did Your Priest Use for the 3rd Week in Advent (Gaudete Sunday)

Being Homebound and get the mass of EWTN shortwave radio, the vestments have no color to me.

I think we need to all pitch in and buy you a tv with a satellite dish, my friend.

vesPERS = Evening Prayer.

Our priest is phenomenally orthodox but has ugly vestments at times. I wonder if he would be open to me buying him some new ones??

My wife and I have purchased several vestments for our Parish Priest. He was most appreciative!

My priest wore pink. I would have voted rose, but it was definitely more of a pink.

I get the feed over the internet. I could get the TV feed instead, but usually prefer just the radio. Listen to it from about 8/9 AM to 3/4 PM. I do have cable and a TV which my wife and I watch at night.

My priest wore purple, but added that the pink vestment had “gone out screaming.” Apparently, it was a loud hot pink and wasn’t appropriate.

My priest wore rose, but the vestment was not as nice as his usual ones. He’s got a set of Roman chasubles he uses for the indult (which is my regular Mass), but he must not have a rose one because he was wearing one of the cheap felt-looking Gothic chasubles that so many parishes have left over from the 70s. If I had the money I’d buy him a matching Roman one. I suppose I should ask him to see if I actually do have the money…

Hmm…last weekend I was in Minneapolis visiting a certain nameless unconventional parish. (Convents…they don’t have those anymore, do they?)

The priest was vested in an alb and a blue stole with other multi-colored blocks on it. During the priest’s “presentation” after the gospel, we were treated to many jokes, one of which went something like:

“Today is Gaudete Sunday for rejoicing, in the old church they used to wear pink. When I first arrived here, I had a set of pink vestments; I wore them once, but then the church informed me that they had to go back into the closet. (thunderous applause) So no more pink.”

BTW, in case anybody lives in that area, the Gay Men’s Chorus will be singing for Christmas, so don’t miss!
