In my quest to reorginize my life I am wondering what comes first, humility, obedience or repentence. I am not sure what comes first. I know that all three are needed, maybe they are all needed at the same time. What do you all think?

Oh boy, when I first saw this, I thought it was going to be the chicken or the egg question!

Okay, seriously, I think that humility needs to come first, then repentance, and finally obedience.

Anyway, just my $0.02.

Repentence and prayer come first.

Humility is a virtue, and requires the transforming grace of God, to achieve. It can take a life time.

Repentance and prayer, is needed first.

Repentence and prayer come first.
But don’t you need to find humility before God first before you can repent and pray? I doubt a person with false pride can find it in him/herself to kneel before God and truly repent his/her sins.

A soul is humbled by the grace to repent and to repent the soul must first talk to God.

Prayer first always.

What comes before prayer?

Jesus seeks His own before His own seek Him.

’I have called you by name, you are Mine’

Everything is a gift and grace of God we co-operate with.

In the Living Prayer of my life.

Repentance is itself an act of humility and is the beginning of obedience. And one can pray to God to be rid of pride. When John the Baptist began to prepare the way for Jesus,he called upon people to repent. When Jesus began his ministry,he called for people to repent. When Peter preached in Jerusalem on Pentacost,he told the people to repent.

Repentance: You need to feel it for having sinned.

Prayer: When you start to feel repentance for having sinned then you begin to pray.

Humility: Is a gift from God that is given when one is truly repentant and has adapted some kind of prayer life!

I would say obedience comes first. You should recognize that God is the one in charge. Then you need to make yourself humble in order to follow his laws. Finally comes repentance. In order to ask forgiveness for your sins, you need to first recognize that you disobedient to God and you need to be humble enough to acknowledge that you actually sinned.

Without getting into technicalities… I think you already started with humility by admiting that you need to reorganize your life. Then perhaps repentance… and finally obidience. But you know what I think? It really depends on your journey. You’ve already started with humility… I think all three go hand in hand when one is changing his/her life. But what if you goof up again? I would then go back to humility and admit that I goofed.

On a side note, you might also want to add courage.

Fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom. *

Fear of the Lord is directly connected to humility, so it seems to me that that is the best place to start. When you respect God and know our place in the universe, only then can you understand the need for obedience, and when that fails, repentance.*
