I love St Josemaria Escriva! He’s an awesome saint and I think his works should be required reading at school
Thanks for the correction John
Hi John.My dear friends
I think the catholic church and catholics have been put down too long.
Right again! Perhaps the readers of this thread would be interested in the following video clip from EWTN. It is called “The Catholic Church: Builder of Civilization”. It is 28 minutes long, but well worth the time.We should be proud because of the immeasurable amount of good in every way the church and members have done good for the world.
When the realization finally hit me (… at least partially; the Good Lord is still working on me)… of how MUCH I had taken for granted in being born into the Catholic family, so early in my life… I was truly blown away. The experience of being fallen away for a decade and returning, has given me an appreciation of the faith, that I previously did not have. But it was a lesson learned the hard way.We should also stop and think hard about what the church offers us. What benefits do we get from it? We get huge benefits none of us can come close to appreciating.
John, it struck me that the “salesman” you speak of might, indeed… be a Divine Salesman. The Holy Spirit! And that His “employees” and His “clients” could likely be us, the Laity! I read somewhere, (might have been writings of Pope John Paul II) that we are living in a special “age of the Laity” within the Catholic Church. And that the Holy Spirit will raise up many saints, of the Laity in this age. I found this to be such an exciting idea! As Mother Angelica says… “Holiness is for EVERYONE!”.I think the church needs to be a salesman telling the world about it’s immense and unmatched contribution to the world which is far, far greater than anything else/ And tell us and all not only that but what are the benefits of being a catholic. Perhaps speak to the ism’s on this too. We need to get our pride and confidence back after the disastrous century we just had. The church should put out a document like this in my opinion. It’s very sorely needed.

John, profound! Kind of like looking into one of those “infinity mirrors”! We can see the image, repeated endlessly… but we have NO CLUE how it’s done!In order for God to create a perfect world and beings He had to create beings ( us ) who would rebel. The reason for this is that God is infinite Love and the greatest expression of love is sacrifice. The greatest sacrifice is infinite sacrifice. If we never rebeled God would not have been able to show us His infinite love for us by His infinite sacrifice on the cross.
God loves us with an infinite love and knew we would rebel and this would cause an automatic reaction from God where He would respond with an expression of infinite sacrifice. In order for our world and us to be perfect we had to rebel. The whole thing is really a mystery though. This is just some thoughts on the perfection of God and how that relates to us. I think I’ll tie this in to my refutation of evolution too.
God bless you and I’m praying for you:thumbsup:

Thank you so much for re-posting it! God bless you.
My dear friendAmong the many terrific things the Church has given the world, I’d like to select: prayer. The mystics and contemplatives have developed the amazing methods of prayer that can bring us all closer and closer to God in so many ways. A non-Catholic friend of mine commented to me that prayer was one thing the Church got right (and this person was quite a critic of the Church, too.)
My dear friendI dealt with this question (in less length than it deserves) a couple of months ago, in the context of people blaming the Catholic Church for Nazi atrocities.
