What did/does God promise to us?

What has God promised us that he will give us while we are alive in this life? It can’t be happiness, as even Mother Teresa was not always happy. If I believe in God and live for Him, what has he promised me that I will receive in this life? Can this be found in the Scriptures?
 
Good question.

While alive:

a full understanding of our capacity to forgive and to love (God, ourselves and others)
the promise of a resurrected body and a new Earth
the promise of eternal life with Him
the indwelling Holy Spirit to guide His Church and each of us individually
as believers in Him that we must continue to carry His cross
