I tried defending a particular Catholic school over at Friendly Atheist, and I quickly found that most of the commenters there were not terribly friendly in any way I’d recognize.

Here’s the blog post in question. What did I do wrong here? Was my thoroughness a liability?

First, while there might be a friendly atheist, very many of them are angry - to their core. Examples abound on these forums. As you and I know, our hearts are made by God to love Him. Atheists willfully exclude God from their beings. Such an active endeavor to achieve the exact opposite of one’s purpose results only in confusion, alienation, misdirection and ultimately, anger. You see the anger in their responses. There is no defense that is acceptable to them. The only “acceptable” thing the school could do is to admit failure and agree with the atheist’s view. Even then, the school would be condemned for ever having differed with their cognitive restrictions.

My advice: Shake the dust from your sandals.
