This qoute confuses me - I guess I am not that up to speed on Vatican II. I thought the changes suggested were implemented, can someone elaborate more specifically on what this means the Church will likely be doing? Thanks!

“I too, as I start in the service that is proper to the Successor of Peter, wish to affirm with force my decided will to pursue the commitment to enact Vatican Council II, in the wake of my predecessors and in faithful continuity with the millennia-old tradition of the Church”

A lot of the implemented changes were done “in the spirit of Vatican II”, and this is confusing many people, Ortho and cafeteria alike.

John Paul II was preparing an implementation plan for VII in Poland when he got sidetracked by the call of the Holy Spirit, and elected Pope.

Benedict XVI was a consultant theologian at VII, and has said that the implementation of the Liturgy is not at the will of the people because it is the Liturgy of Heaven and Earth - It is God’s gift to us, not the other way around. (from the Card. Ratzinger interview with EWTN).

Implementing Vatican II is an ongoing process because some of it will take a long time. It was much more than changes to the Roman Missal. Vatican II is also a direction for the Church in re-commiting it to Christ’s work in the world, and a re-affirmation of doctrines long held.

Many of the changes done in Vatican II’s name are not there at all.
I think Our Pope is going to get us on the right track.

Thank you, very interesting.

Can you offer some examples of things that will take a lpong time to implement, or a good place I can read more about this?

Thanks!
