What did you think of the Pope's visit to Ground Zero?

I just finished watching it on EWTN. I thought their commentary did little to discuss how going to ground Zero ties into his pilgrimage’s theme of bringing HOPE. After 9/11, many began despairing and feeling hopeless. The pope went to that place to pray and to bring hope to all who survive. He spoke and prayed with the mourners and brought them hope and through them brought hope to our entire nation.

I didn’t like Peggy Noonan’s comments, several of which did not reflect Catholic sensabilities. Why would she use an interview on EWTN on Ground Zero to share a story of a woman throwing her husband’s ashes to the wind, having them blown all over her face, then scooping them out of the urn and rubbing them all over herbody? Why would she put in a plug for the pope “obviously” being taken by the “sweetness” of the pro-abortion politician Nancy Pelosi?

He was there to bring hope to those who were grieving and she was talking about anything but that.
 
I have to agre with Maritsa I heard all of the comments that Peggy Noonan made. In the words of the immortal Bill the Cat…PHBBT !

On the other hand, our magnificent fire fighters, police, and emergency responders…we knew these guys were Catholic and they did us proud by genuflecting and kissing the HF’s ring. You could see the HF wince.

God bless our emergency response personnnel! I just wish EWTN had allowed us to hear the pipe band!
 
I wasn’t listening that much to the commentators. I was just loving the sensitive, beautiful way that the Holy Father greeted each of the survivors of the 9/11 ordeal.
I was especially moved by the fact the each of the firefighters and police genuflected and kissed the Fisherman’s Ring.
The fourth or fifth man in line approached with a pronounced hobble, reached for the Holy Fathers hand and made a gallant effort to genuflect. His Holiness almost had to hold the man up, it appeared.

We will hear from the “pundants” for weeks and months to come. Now, we should just enjoy our time with this wonderful, fatherly, wise, and holy man.

Personally, everything I have watched has been beautiful and encouraging. I’ll agree with many others about the music in DC being less than ideal, but I certainly didn’t let it ruin my participation in the mass.

I am glad I don’t allow EWTN here at home - I watched on the local tv station - no problem with the commentators.
