SoCalRC,

You are derailing this thread. Why don’t you push your political agenda on your own thread?🤷

I apologize for any personal insult registered. Loony was a word meant for certain websites, not you directly. I do find it tiresome to deal with the political exagerration and extremism that seems to pop up so often. To me it seems a deliberate political oversight that those on the political left characterize efforts to streamline the Federal Government’s ability to respond to rapid disaster situations as ‘dictatorial.’ A dictator not only seeks the power to carry out all his wishes, he also seeks to remove the checks and balances against his power. These ‘new’ powers given the president only allow faster responses. They do not prevent Congress or the Courts from halting illegal or unconstitutional activities that result from the abusive use of said powers. THAT would be the mark of a move towards dictatorial power. Its absence is why you don’t hear Pelosi and Reid screaming. Just the ACLU and Leahy - big surprise.

For the record, I agree that Blackwater has been a disaster and that the Feds need to can them. I disagree on motive. I think they were born more from the Republican privatization fetish than sinister intentions. Army and Marine MP’s are what were made for that duty. Put them to it.

The “secret police” and thugs you fear are after you only have police powers over non-citizens.
So Jose Padilla, a US citizen who was basically turned into furniture by the tender mercies of our government is what? A figment of our collective imagination?
