What do you all make of the Church of Scientology and the internet group Anonymous? I want to get your thoughts on the situation.
I have a book on scientology and its creepy. What do you all make of the Church of Scientology and the internet group Anonymous? I want to get your thoughts on the situation.
I care. Quite frankly I’ll be disappointed if we don’t see MAD (keeping the nation-state motif going). :egyptian:I see the war between Scientology and Anonymous in the same way I would see a war between Luxembourg and Lichtenstein: I really wouldn’t care who wins.![]()
Scientology is dangerous, and it hurts people. What do you all make of the Church of Scientology and the internet group Anonymous? I want to get your thoughts on the situation.
Mutually Assured Destruction, a Cold War era belief that should the United States and Soviet Union ever get into a war with each other both would be destroyed. What does MAD stand for?
Of course they’re cyber terrorists, but the terminology I’d use to describe the Church of Scientology wouldn’t be any more complimentary, so as I say I hope they both lose. And so does anyone think that Project Chanology could be (as the Church of Scientology refers to them as) “cyber terrorists” perpetrating “religious hate crimes” against the church? In addition, even some detractors of the church of scientology say that Project Chanology is allowing the Church of Scientology to “play the religious persecution card”.
In my studies of Eastern religion I never found any mention of an evil Space Lord who had a fleet of DC-10’s. That’s certainly a new teaching.Scientology is trouble. The Buddha asked if people wanted liberation from suffering and rebirth. Then he taught. Scientology asks people if they want liberation from engrams and reincarnation. And then they charge you $250 per class.
L.Ron Hubbard became acquainted with Dharmic philosophy during his travels to India. No doubt that Scientology was influenced by these religions. (Sikhism, Jainism, Hinduism, and Buddhism…which are religions that focus more on the inner self and spiritual truths and less on theism)
Scientologists think what they are teaching is new. Nope. It’s many of the same principles of the Dharmic religions, relabeled, and then charged to expensive class fees.
Scientology is definitely unique in some areas, that being one. You must admit though, their goal of liberation from suffering and reincarnation sound similar to what you would find in Dharmic philosophy. In my studies of Eastern religion I never found any mention of an evil Space Lord who had a fleet of DC-10’s. The only one I know is Mutually Assured Destruction, the idea that if everyone has enough nukes to kill everyone, and if everyone will die if there is a nuclear war, no one will be the first to launch. What does MAD stand for?
None of the people I personally know who are involved in “operation chanology” are engaging in terrorism of any sort, nor are they persecuting anyone for their choice of religion. Their criticisms are almost entirely of actual abuses by specific individuals, and attempting to draw the attention of Scientologists to the ways in which they are victims of (and enabling and contributing to [financially and otherwise]) these abuses. And so does anyone think that Project Chanology could be (as the Church of Scientology refers to them as) “cyber terrorists” perpetrating “religious hate crimes” against the church?
