What do Baptists believe?

Oh, and Jharek, a long time ago you and I were in a discussion with another member who was a member of some other denomination–and I’ve been trying to remember what it was for the longest time and can’t recall!–that didn’t believe in the Trinity. It wasn’t the JWs. But it was something like “californians”?

Do you remember this?

Thank you for a list which supports my position. I was not aware of the few(?) who use Easter instead of Passover to translate Pascha. So, only Anglicans and Lutherans have paganized the scripture? So we are saying that it is in the realm of the translation license of the Universal Church to use pagan words by perogative? That would certainly be consistent with the rationale for other pagan practices during the Christ’s Mass, aka Christmas.

Peace,

James Least

James,
Are you still talking about Baptist beliefs?

No, it was something that I hadn’t heard of before–some offshoot of the JWs.

I think you PM’d me that this member was part of this sect.

But I can’t remember what it was!

The trail of blood, landmarker theory has been rejected a historical fantasy by the huge majority of Baptists.

I find it very near to “the great controversy” by SDA prophetess Ellen G White, all mistruths.
History is written by the victorious. The saints of God were not promised victory in this world. Satan has been in control of this world–as allowed by the permissive will of God.

The saints are here to be martyrs–the trail is bloody–just like Jesus said.

Someone asked for books of God’s judgement on us? See Rev. 20 the whole chapter. Cf: Jer. 23:29; Dan. 7:10; Eph. 6:17; Heb. 4:12-14; I Peter 1:22-2:3.

Are we ready?

What word do you think English-speaking folks should use instead of Easter, that differentiates Easter from the Passover?

James,

Does this apply in any way to the thread topic? Are you a Baptist claiming the above is part of Baptist beliefs?

Anna

James,
Are you still talking about Baptist beliefs?
The connection: we were discussing the scripture as it relates to Protestants, including Baptists(true Baptists are not Protestants), then KJVO, then the word Easter being pagan in origin. I think we may have touched on who has which stream of scripture and how we may have gotten from Canterbury to Duay-Rheims or something like that.

The thread is still within the realm of “What do Baptists believe?”

Chasing rabbits is fun–with an open mind of course.

James,
Are you a “true” Baptist, who is not Protestant; or are you posting something you have read or have been taught? Of course, you are under no obligation to reveal your religious affiliation. It’s just difficult to know where you are coming.

Believe it or not there are Baptists out there who:
  1. Do not baptize or christen our infants
  2. Have no paid clergy or any other hiearchy
  3. Meet in meeting houses or homes as necessary
  4. Do not have crosses inside or outside their buildings.
  5. Do not have flags in worship services
  6. Sing acapella
  7. Women wear head coverings and shawls
  8. Preach the unadulterated Gospel all over the world
  9. Care for the widows, orphans, sick and imprisoned
  10. Bow to no other religious entity
  11. Support religious liberty for everyone, regardless of creed or lack thereof.
There are more points which distinguish this strange group. These people, called by many names(usually heretics) have been found in many places worldwide. Many of them have been killed by Christians, so-called. There is a trail of blood–it continues. It will not get better until Jesus returns.

A clue as to where I come from: I am a Christian(follower of Christ) first and a That Way with a Baptistic Faith and Practice. See Book of Jude, with Jude 3 being a pivot point.

James Least

Similiar to the Amish? Isolation etc?

It was something like S_____tenarian? Londonentarian? Was it a sect that you said was started in London?

Oh, my horrible horrible memory!

Whatever the case, it’s bothering me because I can’t remember, and it’s also some strange sect that I only heard about courtesy of the CAFs.

It is, of course, the fruit of that unholy trinity: just me, the Bible and the Holy Spirit that brings about this ability to form your own sect when you disagree with your pastor’s fallible interpretation.

I mean no disrespect, J-to-the-L, but you seem to say a lot without really saying anything, which can be a fatal flaw on CAF (or any discussion forum for that matter).

By the way, what do you mean by “Preach the unadulterated Gospel all over the world”?

And how do I know that your Gospel is unadulterated?

Thanks!

i.e., Reformation-piggy backing wack-a-doodle.

maybe you should join the Seventh Day Advenists, mr.Least.

(name removed by moderator),

I know your post was not directed to me. However, a Southern Baptist friend legally changed her first name from Cynthia to Sarah—because Cynthia (Greek origin), in ancient times, was associated with a pagan moon goddess.

I don’t know. Maybe she was on to something. 😃
