Back on topic: What this not a 7th day Baptist believes:The trail of blood, landmarker theory has been rejected a historical fantasy by the huge majority of Baptists.
I find it very near to “the great controversy” by SDA prophetess Ellen G White, all mistruths.
Charges are often disguised as rhetorical questions:This was a rhetorical question, not a ludicrous charge.
Why so quick to distance yourself from SDAs? Do they not believe in the same Jesus that you believe in? Are they not “on the Lord’s side?”Back on topic: What this not a 7th day Baptist believes:
What are you saying here…?What now? The trail of blood and the landmarks cannot be obliterated, even though many have tried to do so.
James,Back on topic: What this not a 7th day Baptist believes:
That Jesus is the Christ is rejected by most of the religions of the world.
What now? The trail of blood and the landmarks cannot be obliterated, even though many have tried to do so. The long war against God continues. Who is on the Lord’s side?
Is it time to trim lamps? Even so, come Lord Jesus.
No, this is not E.G. White.
Peace,
James Least

Revival this week? This was a rhetorical question, not a ludicrous charge. Paganistic practices have crept into Christendom since day one. Many have been deceived. If it were possible The Elect would be deceived. That is not possible. Jesus keeps them through sword, fire and “the rack”. They do not recant.
Peace,

JustaServant,So far the two Baptists on this thread have not been able to contain themselves and have been banned.
If ANYTHING answers the OPs question, this object lesson does.
I’ll bet I could start a thread on What do (Episcopals, Presbyterians, Methodists, Brethren, ect) believe, and I would not see the same result.JustaServant,
I think part of the problem is that some people come to CAF to proselytize, rather than discuss beliefs and practices, or learn more about Catholic beliefs, or any faith other than their own. Those who do this often see information as flowing in one direction—that direction is from them to threads with little real dialogue. You can’t get a straight answer when you ask a question; and they often post off topic.
Anyway, I’m sending up prayers for James Least.
Peace,
Anna
The Baptist church I attended (briefly) actively taught (and had pamphlets in their foyers saying as much) that the Catholic Church was a cult.I’ll bet I could start a thread on What do (Episcopals, Presbyterians, Methodists, Brethren, ect) believe, and I would not see the same result.
I think its the Baptist mindset. I don’t see this with other Protestants even in person. But with Baptists I do.
Last year I had an appointment in the home of an elderly Baptist couple. They were signing an insurance contract. Nowadays everything is done on computer, no paper. So the signing has to be on computer as well. Well, my handwriting has always looked bad (maybe I should have been a doctor). So I make an funny offhand comment about when I was a kid in Catholic school we had penmenship classes, and those nuns could never beat me into good handwriting.
The room got suddenly cold. She looked up at me and said: "Oh…long pause…you’re a Catholic (almost spitting out the words)?
I ignored it and moved on. But that is what I am talking about. They have this chemical reaction whenever they hear the word.
lol. it is!!. another short story. my oldest son is 22 yrs old, the 19 yr old suckered him into goin to their revival last night, my oldest made it perfectly clear he wants NOTHING to do with the others church. well the revival was in the next town and son #1 did NOT figure out what was goin on til they got to the “tent”. needless to say he was not a happy camper. he was sending me text messages while it was goin on and then he called me when he got home last night, still COMPLAININ!!Revival this week?

I know it’s the practice of my dads churchThe Baptist church I attended (briefly) actively taught (and had pamphlets in their foyers saying as much) that the Catholic Church was a cult.
Once I had to write to the pastor. I was upset that a Bible study had consisted ONLY of bashing the Catholic Church’s teachings. I wasn’t even Catholic! But I thought it was tacky and it frustrated me that while I was seeking to learn more about MY faith, they were just teaching me why everyone ELSE was wrong. I asked him; “Is this a practice of your church? To attack other faiths?”
His response? “No, this isn’t a practice of our church. However, the Catholic Church is wrong because of this this and this…”
That’s when I stopped attending the Baptist church.
So is this actually what Baptists believe (that the Catholic Church is a cult?) or was this pastor just misguided in his zeal?
I wonder why such a strong negative response to Catholics? Or anybody of any other faith.lol. it is!!. another short story. my oldest son is 22 yrs old, the 19 yr old suckered him into goin to their revival last night, my oldest made it perfectly clear he wants NOTHING to do with the others church. well the revival was in the next town and son #1 did NOT figure out what was goin on til they got to the “tent”. needless to say he was not a happy camper. he was sending me text messages while it was goin on and then he called me when he got home last night, still COMPLAININ!!
I know it’s the practice of my dads church. but I believe JustaServant has this type of Baptist down pat! The majority of people I know are Baptist and are great people. My dad and my son are great people, just misguided from their fundamentalist views!!
May I ask, what is Young Earth Creationism?I used to be a Southern Baptist. We believed in sola scriptura, sola fide, once saved always saved, the pre-tribulation rapture, and Young Earth Creationism.
I know. My Baptist friends are accepting, but I still remember when they said You are Catholic?, and said we are ritualistic. I don’t know what they want? A rock band during Mass?I wonder why such a strong negative response to Catholics? Or anybody of any other faith.
How can you hope to convert people if you treat them with disdain the moment you hear what faith they are?
