I keep hearing that legalizing gay marriage will ruin our society, but has it ruined Canada?

Is Canada so bad? I don’t hear about Canadians speaking out about gay marriage, just Americans. Have Canadians just accepted the fact that gay marriage is legal and are just going on with their lives?

Why is Canada different than America?
I believe that it is illegal in Canada to speak out against homosexual behaviors, which has been elevated to some sort of a “civil right.” Here in America, people have civil rights, not behaviors.

That might be changing here in Canada actually. I have a feeling it will be upheld by the Supreme Court (or just not taken), as the current precedent is:
Democracy cannot be maintained without its foundation: free public opinion and free discussion throughout the nation of all matter affecting the state within the limits set by the criminal code and the common law
