The Last Supper is commemorated every single mass, as it is the institution of the Holy Eucharist. Thus, every time the Eucharistic Rite is performed, the Last Supper is celebrated in a sense. We also know we are correct in doing this as Christ gave us both the example and the command to do so, as he said to “do this in memory of Me.”

Also, I’m beyond happy you feel God calling you to come to the Catholic faith!

Furthermore, I am not a priest. This is exactly the type of question that your neighborhood priest is there to help you to understand! Do not be afraid to approach them with questions!

If you don’t mind some reading, these are quick condensed sentences, giving answers to various questions from the CCC on the Eucharist

Also under the name Last Supper

Why not come and see? Your timing is very good. The Commemoration of the Last Supper is this Thursday, Holy Thursday, usually at 7 p.m. (depending where you live of course). Check online for the schedule at your local Catholic church. It is very beautiful! Anyone can attend, so just join in!

Mind you, it’s worth warning anyone attending for the first time that the Maundy /Holy Thursday Mass will be very long - twice the length of an ordinary Sunday Mass. if they do the Mandatum.

When Jesus initiated the memorial of his death he did not intend it to be celebrated everyday. All other memorials are celebrated yearly. Do you celebrate your birthday, mothers day, etc daily ?? Jesus intended it to be done yearly.

Padre Pio prayed the Rosary daily, all day long, without stopping. Which means he prayed Our Lord’s life, from the annunciation to crowning of the Blessed mother queen of heaven, all day long every day of the year. Maybe that’s just one reason why he is a saint 😄

I salute your curiosity, Kandi2003 !
This faith, you will find, is colorful in a myriad of ways.
Anyways,
Passover - is when the Angel Of Death killed all the first born of the Egyptians…
People who put lambs blood, on their door, were ‘passed over’
Many years later…Jesus and his 12 friends celebrated this festival…
it was to be - His ‘last supper’ with them, before being arrested and murdered.

I have felt drawn to the Catholic church for a while now for no real reason , it’s hard to explain

Humans have a natural desire for the truth, and the Catholic church is the Truth 😀

Being that the early Church administered the Eucharist not yearly…and they were close to Christ…then I think your opinion is simply wrong.

He was establishing a new covenant.

There often isn’t a “reason”. That’s the Holy Spirit speaking to you (I think so, anyway). Before I was Catholic (I joined three years ago) I used to feel compelled to go to the Catholic Church whenever I was going through difficult times in my life. It wasn’t until later, after I joined, that a priest pointed out to me how even then I felt pulled toward the presence of Blessed sacrament in times of trouble (and still do!).

If you Google “Holy Thursday service” or “Catholic Holy Thursday service” you can get some good, brief explanations of what to expect in pretty plain language. I used Wikipedia a lot in my early days exploring the faith 😉

Let’s not derail the thread and focus on helping the OP. We can ignore people like @Brucejlb.

Do you celebrate birthdays, mothers day, or any other day more than once a year ??

The timeless and eternal sacrifice of Christ, which is re-presented in the Mass, cannot be compared to any of those holidays you mentioned.

I celebrate my birthday, my mother, the birth of the children in my life on whatever and on as many days of the year as I like.

Why? Because they are reasons to celebrate and I refuse to be told I can only celebrate them one day a year,

Plus, cake.

Now, if you would kindly stop derailing this thread so the OP can actually get answers to what she was asking.

The one thing I think was cool about the Last Supper -
Wasn’t Jesus confronting Judas - and pretty much saying “scram” 😀
But afterwards - they sang hymns -
Singing - knowing - he’s on his way to the Cross !
" Obedient, even unto death. EVEN the death of a cross "
